Ceramicist Fern Taylor takes a holistic approach to craft. Her preferred method of working with clay involves nerikomi β the Japanese practice of layering different coloured clays before slicing through the combined body β to reveal intricate, one-of-a-kind patterns formed within the material itself.Β
βI really enjoy the structure of building with nerikomi,β she says. βAnd I just never went back to the wheel.βΒ
