Looking back at the mural unveiling at Roosevelt Elementary, we are excited to share another special video from this memorable event.
The mural was created by artist Stephanie Mercado (@smprojekts ) in collaboration with nearly 70 fifth-grade students from Roosevelt Elementary School through ESMoA’s STARTlab (Stories and Art Lab) (@esmoaorg ). STARTlab is a free arts program brought to Lawndale schools by ESMoA in partnership with Lawndale Elementary School District libraries.
A heartfelt thank you to the Ruth & Joseph C. Reed Foundation for the Arts, as well as the Lawndale, Manhattan Beach & South Bay Sunrise Rotary Clubs, for making this opportunity possible for our students. Special thanks to El Comal de Mexico (@elcomaldemexico ) for the delicious food shared during the celebration.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so meaningful for Roosevelt Elementary and our district community.

We had the honor of joining Roosevelt Elementary School for the unveiling of a beautiful new collaborative mural and the grand opening of their new library!

Stephanie mentioned, “When you teach a child that their ideas are important and that their culture is important, it gives them self-determination.” ❤️ We agree and are so grateful Stephanie was able to teach our students and allow them express themselves and be seen through art.

Special thanks to El Comal de Mexico (@elcomaldemexico ) for the delicious food shared during the celebration. Thank you to the Office of Assemblymember Tina McKinnor and California State Senator Laura Richardson for joining us and recognizing this great accomplishment!

Get ready for F. D. Roosevelt’s Annual Color Run!
Personal donation pages have been emailed out. This year, if we meet our fundraising goals, there are both INDIVIDUAL and SCHOOL WIDE rewards to earn!
Families are welcome to come watch the run and cheer students on!
Let’s make this year the best run we’ve had!
We had a blast at the Makerspace Family Night! Thanks to our TREC staff for coordinating this great event to not only showcase what our students are learning within STEM but also engage our families and provide an opportunity to grow together.

~ New Friendship Club Alert! ~
Join us in welcoming F.D. Roosevelt Elementary School to the Friendship Foundation Community! 👋😁
@fdr.tigers@lesdschools
Friendship Club kicked off in the sweetest way— at their February club launch, students decorated heart-shaped cookies loaded with pink icing and sprinkles. The theme was “Sprinkle Kindness…everywhere!”, setting the tone for future Club meetings at Roosevelt.
Club Advisors Ms. Policarpo-Hernandez, Ms. Reyes, and Ms. Parris soaked in the joy as students chatted, laughed, and showed off their cookie‑decorating skills. 🍪
The smiles and sheer happiness said it all – Friendship Club is already shaping up to be something very special and meaningful at Roosevelt! 💙
