When I was four years old, my grandmother Raya died. She made me avocado and cottage cheese breads and we loved each other very much.
My father announced the news of her death as we sat in the car, and I told him my first cosmology — every one of us is a drop of water. When we die, we evaporate and arise back to heaven to form one cloud—and that cloud is God.
These days, it seems to me that this cloud is fully descending. We get to be both the individual drop, the movement of the mists, and the sky that holds it all.
