Paula Parole speaks about pushing past reassurance, risk, and the edges of her own practice. Speaking with Victoria Comstock-Kershaw, the two reflect on the strange cycle of making, from the moment something feels resolved to the instinct to disrupt it and push further. For Parole, it’s about stepping beyond comfort and testing limits, while Comstock-Kershaw describes the familiar swing between self-doubt and conviction - from “this is the worst thing ever made” to complete belief in the work. Together, they touch on distance, perspective, and the importance of protecting your process, knowing when to step away, and who not to listen to. Full brave podcast out now. Link in bio. Yesterday marked a biggie. My first solo show, which I have worked on for a bit and poured all my heart into. I am so touched by the feedback, by all the beautiful people who came yesterday to celebrate it, and I can't wait for more to come, and show! It was an incredible fun and exciting journey with these two pioneer curators @displayfever and @fanshawprojects who made this possible. 🤍 If you haven’t seen it yet, please come by! The exhibition runs until 08.03 in Hoxton, East London. Wednesday–Sunday by appointment. Just DM @fanshawprojects , @displayfever , or me. For sales inquiries, please contact @displayfever Photography by René Lazovy @renelazovy

A week left for 𝒜 𝒫𝓇𝑜𝓂𝒾𝓈𝑒 𝐼𝓈 𝒜 𝒮𝓅𝑒𝓁𝓁, a solo exhibition by Paula Parole, opening on Wednesday 11 February. 12 February – 8 March, 2026 PV: 11 February, 6-8 pm Fanshaw Street N1 6LQ (Open by Appointment)  Curated collaboratively by Display Fever and Fanshaw Projects, A Promise is a Spell reflects a shared approach to storytelling as a live curatorial practice, creating an environment that blurs the boundaries between memory, myth, and the present moment. Through mixed-media and experimental gestures, Parole layers personal experience into the intimate setting of Fanshaw Projects, inviting viewers to look again at the stories that raised us and to sit with their lingering emotional residue. The exhibition unfolds as a child’s room: a domestic space held between care and control, tenderness and discipline. The home appears as both a refuge and rehearsal space, where intimacy exists in control. @displayfever @fanshawprojects 📸 @marielilienfunk

Fanshaw Projects and Display Fever presents 𝒜 𝒫𝓇𝑜𝓂𝒾𝓈𝑒 𝐼𝓈 𝒜 𝒮𝓅𝑒𝓁𝓁, a solo exhibition by Paula Parole, opening on Wednesday 11 February. 12 February – 8 March, 2026 PV: 11 February, 6-9 pm Fanshaw Street N1 6LQ (Open by Appointment)  A Promise Is a Spell marks Paula Parole’s debut solo exhibition, approaching fairy tales as contested mythologies that have long scripted womanhood through ideals of beauty, obedience, and the fantasy of rescue. Working across painting, sculpture, and found materials, Parole’s introspective practice explores the inner-child within to liberate her from the gendered promises she had inhabited. In the exhibition, what begins as the sweetness of childhood, when everything feels possible, slowly curdles into a more bitter longing, as the realities of adulthood surface and early promises are exposed as unmet or hollow. — Paula Parole (1992) holds a BA from the Academy of Fine Art Maastricht, where she specialised in film and graduated with distinction in 2016. After releasing two award-winning short films, she shifted her focus to fine art, while working as an art mediator for the Boros Collection Berlin. Since 2020, Paula has been based in London. She earned a Graduate Diploma and a Master of Fine Art, both with distinction, from Chelsea College of Art and Central Saint Martins, UAL, for which she was awarded the Mona Hatoum Foundation Scholarship. Her work has been exhibited across the UK, Europe and China, including galleries and institutions like TATE Collective, Guts Gallery, LAS and Piloto Pardo. She also co-founded the Filthy Fox Auction Club, which introduces a selection of art graduates each year through auction to support early careers. Its first event, held in East London in 2022, challenged traditional sales and has supported over 40 emerging artists so far. Poster design by August Omer Agustoslu @agustoslu

Giuditta Vettese (@giudivettese ) approaches art as an inquiry where matter, sensation, and psychic energy converge. At Fanshaw Projects (@fanshawprojects ), in a domestic loft transformed into a temporary living laboratory, her solo exhibition I Would Like to Meet the Eye of the Sun and the Moon pulses with erotic energy, pulling us toward death, desire, and transformation. Clay breathes like vulnerable skin. Snakes twist between tenderness and threat. The monstrous feminine becomes the site of erotic resistance. Across myth and history, the serpent has been both curse and cure, the tempter of Genesis and the healer of Asclepius. In Vettese’s hands, it sheds its ornamental taming and becomes alive with risk. Erotic energy turns resistant, dangerous, necessary, a bodyguard of transformation. In her essay, Gigi Surel (@gigisurel_ ) unravels these tensions, tracing how Vettese redefines desire as knowledge and the feminine as a site of creation. Now showing at Fanshaw Projects until 19 October 2025. Link in bio to read the full article.

Giuditta Vettese, Fool Moon (2025) 🌜 We find ourselves suspended in a magnetic pull between the womb’s egg and the sphere – symbolising the eye – resting on Fool Moon. Vettese traces parallels between these forms, not only in their anatomical resemblance but in their shared influence over perception. She investigates the precarious process by which we come to know reality: first through sight, then more deeply through the sixth sense, intuition, an inner knowing that flows through the womb. Vettese draws our attention to the moon’s subtle but powerful influence on the body: just as it pulls the tides, it stirs our inner waters, blood, emotion, desire. Across myth, folklore, and psychoanalytic thought, the moon has been linked to madness, emotional upheavel, repressed energies, particu-larly in relation to the feminine and the unconscious.
