Faited Systems

System upgrade!!! A full set of four @faited.systems Quadra subwoofers in orifice configuration, poised to upgrade the LUV NRG Soundsystem ahead of its debut at Movement weekend this week. Conceived, designed, simulated, prototyped, and manufactured from December 2024 'til now with the support of the beautiful transexuals and collaborators I’m blessed to call my friends. The motivation to create this new subwoofer design was prompted by two things: the need for deeper sub bass in the LUV NRG System; and the aching bodies of everyone who's carried the old (and very heavy) @envelope.soundsystem subwoofers down stoney trails deep into the forest. This design is a culmination of years of building cabinets, studying the history and theory of loudspeakers, and on the ground experience schlepping soundsystems into venues and forests unknown. I hope it can exist as another piece of evidence that we can create the world we dream of. Utmost gratitude and thanks to @erisdrew and @octoocta , who’ve believed in me to deliver on this huge project and provided the crucial funding to make it a reality. This design and the physical manifestations of it would not exist without their support and vision for soundsystems built and run by trans people. The very long list of people I am in debt to and which this project would not have completed on time without: @granitegrrl for being an ideal shop apprentice, creating and powder coating the steel joining plates, running the laser cutter for the info plates, and last minute on-site assembly; @errorbesque for tirelessly supporting me through it all and wrapping up the paint job; @way_way_way_way_way_way_way_ for the graphic design on the info plates and encouragement; @famousdirt for remodeling the workshop that made this project feasible and help with sanding; @manicbarbiedreamhouse for the final stretches to get the Quadra’s onto pallets after three days of running sound; Sage, Gal, @zahremaarmusic Debbie, Alex, Jones for other critical woodworking-based support. @faited.systems Quadra V1.0 is finally here. There’s been a huge list of modifications and a slew of internal changes since the first versions that we made last year. These are lighter and more efficient, and have some ergonomic changes to make them easier to deploy. Note the optional center pole mount that enables using a pair of Quadras underneath a pole mounted top. We’re offering them for general sale now, so please reach out if you’re interested. We plan to release a non-commercial open source version of the design later this summer, as well as offer flat packs. Will provide updates on that over the next couple months. This version currently does not employ a port assist for cooling. We determined the effect on the low end transient response wasn’t worth it. We’re working on developing an alternative cooling solution, but this primarily affects performance when running the boxes near their absolute limit. Excited to share what we’re working on in that department when it’s a bit more mature.

Excited to share for the first time: preliminary measurements for the @faited.systems Quadra subwoofers. These first measurements are for two mirrored cabinets in two different configurations. Each of these cabinets is less than 170 lbs which makes them much more mobile than many other options. These measurements are ground plane and were taken outside with no boundaries within 100 feet. Within the Demon Lair, a triphonic beast begins to stir. Unveiling our collaboration on a custom triphonic @faited.systems soundsystem for the launch of @eternalresearchmusic ‘s Demon Box. We retooled and enhanced parts of the design of our Quadra subwoofer for this offering to The Rite of the Demon. More details on these refinements to come soon. The triphonic system is being unleashed for the first time at the release performance of the Demon Box today (December 4th) in Los Angeles at 2220 Arts. Hey… hey! … HEY!! 😠 my eyes are over here. Got back from the Draaimolen-Berlin-Chicago-Folsom mini-tour, had my requisite ennui-driven crashout 😉, and then immediately got to work on a new @faited.systems build for a project that’s such a great aesthetic pairing I’m having a hard time not talking about it. @granitegrrl is helping out with this one, which is the first time I’ve had a dedicated cobuilder in the shop—she’s a natural talent for it and has made it possible to implement some new design updates and improvements that I’ll hopefully be able to detail when there’s a moment’s rest.
