Every time I get booked for a keynote speech, a panel discussion or a workshop, the speakers fee goes right into Queer Momentum - helping us power advocacy efforts across Canada. Every talk is an opportunity to bring new people into our movement, to change hearts and minds and open eyes. Its movement building, one talk at a time. You get a fiery, candid and fun speaker who can break through with audiences of all kinds (I excel with an unsure or tough audience). We get additional revenue to help uphold the rights of queer people. Its a win-win situation ❤️ For the smaller organizations and groups, I also offer low and pro-bono talks on a case by case basis so don't be afraid to reach out. Rates are flexible ❤️ Visit the link in my bio (faejohnstone.ca) to learn more or submit an inquiry. (Yes I enjoyed writing "heterosexuals cant get enough of her" leave me alone hehe) @queermomentum

I've written a letter I would like you to read. It is a personal reflection. A call to action, and a desperate plea for help. I have to admit, I'm nervous as hell to publish this, but it feels necessary. This wasn't easy to write. For years now, I've taken off my most fiery/feisty trans activist hat and assumed a different role. I've been a spokesperson and strategist, a rabble rouser and coalition builder. I've tried my best to bring grace and hope and compassion into my organizing. That approach is a winning one, but it isn't always easy. Now, however, I want to take that hat off for a moment and be real and raw with all of you. The truth is, I am scared, I'm hurting and I feel powerless to stop the trajectory we're headed down. A trajectory where my community's rights, freedom, humanity and safety have been stripped away. I have also struggled deeply with a truth I have, until now, chosen not to name: We care less about what's going on because it's about trans people. I don't say that lightly. And I don't mean it to shame or guilt you. But it's a truth that has to be named. So many of you have given your all to this. And I love you for it. This isn't about you. It's about the whole. And at the core, it's a desperate plea for help. I have scars from this work that I rarely show others. Scars I'm not sure will ever heal. The burden, and the pain of being a target, hurts in ways I don't yet have the words for. I keep going, because my community needs me. Because there's no other choice, when lives are on the line. It feels like we are losing. It feels like we - the broader left, beyond the tiny fraction of trans people and our closest allies - didn't even try to win. I am asking you to read my blog, and yes, to donate to the fundraising campaign mentioned therein. But beyond that, I am asking you to tap in however you can. Help show the trans people across this country that we are not alone. Fae

Spoke with Canadian Press about the significance of the International Day Against Homophobia, Bipohiba and Transphobia. I urged the Prime Minister to show queer Canadians he will uphold and defend our rights, spoke about the danger of polarization and invited Canadians with questions about transgender issues to join us for one of our "Ask a trans person anything" events taking place across Canada throughout the summer.

I'm in Winnipeg this week spending my days with some of my favourite people: union activists✊🏻 Over 2000 workers from across Canada have come together for the Canadian Labour Congress' 2026 Convention, building power and strategizing to hold governments and corporations accountable. Last night, I had the honour of hosting the CLC Women's Forum, celebrating the badass union women, past and present, who have been a driving force for Canada's feminist movement for decades. While on stage, I took a moment to thank the union women in the room who showed up, and keep showing up, for trans people as our community faces attack after attack. These women exemplify solidarity, and I am so grateful to know them. Workers are united, committed to socual justice, and laser focused on delivering for everyday Canadians. I am proud to show up for Canada's unions whenever I can, and grateful for their solidarity with trans and queer movements.

The truth is, trans people have been maligned, branded as (dangerous) ideological extremists pushing weird agendas in schools and other institutions. The whole conversation has become polarized and poisonous, making it all the more difficult to find common ground. That's why we are trying out a new approach. People have questions and they deserve answers, so @karla.marx1917 and I are putting ourselves in the hot seat for live "Ask a Trans Person Anything" events across Canada. Send us your uncle who doesnt get it, your neighbour whose worried about what their kid is learning at school. We'll give them space to bring their concerns forward. Our hot take? Most people will agree with us, if we put the internet aside and have real dialogue. See you there 🔥👋 🔗 TransCanadaTour.ca/AskTrans (in bio)

Advancing inclusion isn’t about politics or ideology. It's about creating safer schools for all kids - including queer and trans kids, racialized youth and kids from minority faith communities. This is Premier Smith trying to force inclusion out of the classroom. This is the equivalent of American-style "dont say gay (or trans)" but with a Canadian, smiling, spin on it. Yesterday, Queer Momentum and TransAction Alberta supported ten parents of trans youth to do something big, bold and brave. On the eve of trans day of visibility, these parents showed up at the Alberta Legislature and demanded the restoration of their children's charter-protected rights. Since the premier has made it less safe for their kids to be visible, these parents stepped into the spotlight on their behalf. They told stories of the harm the premier has caused their kids and their families. Their stories broke my heart and brought tears to my eyes. They spoke of their kids' self-harm, deteriorating mental health and hopelessness. They called out this premier, who has had the audacity to frame herself as pro parent, for putting them, their kids and their families, through hell. They demanded the Premier meet with them. Soon after, during Question Period, the Alberta NDP echoed this demand in multiple questions. The premier dodged the question and made one of her ministers respond - not with an answer, but with deflection after deflection. All these parents want is to raise happy and healthy kids. Kids who deserve to be supported by their provincial government, but who have instead been treated as a problem to be solved. In the days ahead, we will be rolling out the stories and statements these parents shared on the steps of the legislature. Please, listen to them and share them. And, since it's TDOV, I am asking you to help us keep sharing stories like theirs, and stories of trans people across Canada. Their stories and our collective advocacy, are key to restoring charter rights to trans kids. Donate here to power our Alberta campaign: www.QueerMomentum.ca/donate Thank you @janis.irwin @courtellingson and @nenshi for showing up and speaking with these parents, and especially to you, Janis, for echoing the call from these parents for a meeting with the Premier. And thank you, @karla.marx1917 , for being the most badass and brilliant co-organizer a gal could ever ask for. You are an Albertan treasure.

To my trans community: thank you. You inspire me every day. You make this world a better place. You embody freedom. You are courage and strength, care and compassion. You taught me how to love myself. You have unlocked in me a dream of a world where ✨️everyone✨️ is freed from puritanical gender norms, from patriarchy and heteronormativity. We will get through this new era of hate. We are resilient. We have changed the world already. We will do it again - until we, until everyone, is free. Thank you. I love you.

If you know me, you know I love writing in queer media. That's why I am proud to share my first piece in @wayvesmagazine - Atlantic Canada's home for queer news and commentary. This piece is an invitation to understand what the last few years have meant for trans people, as we emerged from decades of vilification and dared believe Canada would welcome us, finally, to be as free and equal as our cisgender peers. Until, in the blink of an eye, the tides turned against us. This is fundamentally a call to action: to make yourselves visible with us, to remember that our rights are your rights and our freedoms is your freedom. "We are simply a convenient excuse, a useful boogeyman for social conservatives who hate everything we stand for: gender and sexual liberation, bodily autonomy, an end to patriarchy and a world where you can live, love and f*ck freely." This is about so much more than 0.03% of the population. Read the full piece at www.Wayves.ca

Solidarity is how we win. Today, feminists across Canada are speaking up to support their transgender siblings and reject attacks on trans rights undertaken in the name of cisgender women. I am so grateful to feminists across this country who have consistently spoken up for trans equality. This new campaign is a powerful continuation of that solidarity. When we come together, we can overcome division and advance real solutions to deliver safety, equality and freedom for marginalized people everywhere. "At a time of growing anti-trans hostility, silence helps the wrong people. We are speaking up to say clearly that trans rights and women’s rights are not in opposition, and attempts to pit us against each other should be rejected."
