I am pleased to present my first art exhibition in more than a decade as @work.byfactory re-launches our artistic practice! Titled Expressing Heritage: A Natural State of Being and proudly supported and organised by @temenggongsg , this group show is the 4th edition of the Temenggong-SG-Creatives series. Sharing the stage in this with the amazing @randyzarch and Prof @surianisuratman.ceramicartist ! All these would not be possible without the amazing support from Temenggong Artists-in-Residence, my FACTORY team as well as @dragon_chuic !!! — The traditional division of time—eight hours for labour, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest—has long shaped human experience, perhaps constraining our understanding of what it means to truly “be.” I’d be presenting 3 kinetic light sculptures from our TOUCH THE CAT series titled ‘Work’, ‘Play’ and ‘Rest’. These artworks make one question: Are you living in a way that resonates with your heart’s true desires, or are you simply existing within the confines of what is expected? 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 21-29 𝗦𝗲𝗽 2024, 12-6𝗽𝗺. 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 23 𝗠𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗽 2024 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 28 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗱, 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 098775 Thank you @jialiangquek for my new artist portrait! It captures the playful energy of cats, which is a deep source of inspiration for my work; the fleeting bursts of creativity, the act of simply watching, and most importantly, the fine balance between the instinctual and the deliberate. Meet Meowly! @factory1611 designed this little kopitiam legend and we couldn’t leave him behind. From box to spotlight, Meowly now lives on our console with his good morning towel slung over his shoulder, standing tall on the classic red plastic stools. A cheeky play on 步步高升, but also a quiet nod for the everyday wins we don’t shout about enough. #weekdayloft #artathome #supportlocal #meowly

Meowly travels to ADM @ntu_adm ! 🐈 So happy to see this work get restaged at my Alma mater, bringing something I created back to the place that shaped my career. - Meowly: Keeper of Small Joys 2025 Mixed media illuminated sculpture using neon LED tubes 160cm(h) x 260cm(w) x 30cm(d) Meowly’s gentle presence invites a moment of pause. Poised at the threshold of the space, the character greets visitors with quiet warmth and curiosity. The illuminated head form is adorned with neon illustrated motifs that celebrate the simple joys of everyday life. Animals dance, flowers bloom and playful scenes drift across its surface, forming a luminous tapestry of light and imagination. These glowing fragments transform familiar moments into something dreamlike, inviting viewers to slow down and look again. Cats have long symbolised attentiveness and quiet observation. Through Meowly, these qualities become a reminder that happiness is often found in the smallest, most fleeting moments. And in that moment, you feel happiness. This sculpture was first presented as part of the large scale installation series titled Dreams of Santa Paws and House of Lucky Paws respectively, staged at @milleniawalk Singapore over Christmas (2025) and Lunar New Year (2026).

步步高升 2025 Steel, Acrylic, LED , UV print 21.5cm(h) x 21.5cm(w) x 10.5cm(d) Meowly takes on the role of a familiar Kopitiam worker with the Good Morning towel draped around his shoulder. Standing atop a stack of the iconic red plastic stools like a Kopitiam champion, he treats the start of every day like a small triumph. This work offers a cheeky spin on the phrase 步步高升 (rising higher, step by step), a nod to Singapore’s relentless pursuit of success, but also a reminder that it is often the simplest, most grounded moments that truly lift us up.

It seems like I have spent this year conquering side quests. We opened our new FACTORY JB studio, and I finally got that big ass street facing signage I’ve always wanted. Painted The Alley’s Keeper mural for @8mresg ’s Arts in the Alley, a neon cat watching over the back alleys of Tanjong Pagar. Built In Sight for @smuartsfest , a kinetic light piece that turned a corridor into moving light. Wrote and published redding, my second novel, one that is about identity, memory and the versions of ourselves we leave behind.
Raised a six metre neon cat carousel installation at @milleniawalk , titled Dreams of Santa Paws, and watched kids claim it as theirs.

Showed and sold a new artwork titled 步步高升 at @temenggongsg , my first group show this year. Launched @work.byfactory ‘s Meowly plushie for this year’s Write a Christmas Card. Somewhere in between clients’ work and late night musings, design and art has finally stopped feeling like separate lives to me. Often this year, I have felt that the best place to walk is where everyone else is running. Or, to run where everyone else is walking. For a few moments each day, I am learning to let my mind stay where my feet are, with the people and things that make my days lighter. Many times, it is on the good old toilet bowl. Thank you 2025 for being a strange, good year.

Honoured to be featured in Lianhe Zaobao’s (@zaobaosg @zaobaosg.lifestyle ) Design and Décor section. Thank you to @christine.liyage for the interview and the thoughtful write up on how Singapore malls are reimagining Christmas, and for including our Dreams of Santa Paws at @milleniawalk .🎄 Still a little surreal seeing our Dreams of Santa Paws installation out in the world like this. Grateful to everyone who visited, took photos, and made the space feel alive! Last week to catch it before we changeover for Chinese New Year! So so honoured to be on Melanie Oliveiro @pageturners938 ‘s Made in SG live interview segment today on CNA938 (@channelnewsasia ), as we chatted about @work.byfactory ’s Dreams of Santa Paws 🐾 🎅 art installation at the heart of @milleniawalk ! Thank you so much for making me feel so welcomed on my first ever radio interview. It was great fun and I loved getting to share the story behind the work: why we built it, what it is meant to make people feel, and how a playful festive idea can become a real, walk-in experience that brings people closer. Also, I got to share about my dream of designing the Singapore bank note or passport one day. Dream big, it’s free! 💵 🧥: @casseygan
