Stùfis di essi stùis (Fed up with being fed up) is a work that oscillates between the absurd and the melancholic, between unintentional comedy and the quiet resignation of everyday life. Facchini draws from a domestic element of his childhood – the stove – and turns it into a symbol of existential discomfort, one that is deeply personal yet universally relatable.
Made from deliberately “stupid,” mundane materials, the piece presents itself with a kind of clumsy tenderness: it seeks beauty but cannot help but reveal its own inadequacy. It is an object that doesn’t warm, doesn’t serve, doesn’t comfort. And yet it remains, as if challenging the viewer: “Go ahead, sit down. Look at me. And picture me in flames.”
With its tragic humor and taste for paradox – a hallmark of the artist’s poetics – Stùfis di essi stùis invites reflection on the very nature of habit and the subtle fatigue of feeling extinguished. A stove that doesn’t heat, yet still burns.
