Erased and Not Erased, by Fabrice Souvereyns
@fabricesouv
In his series, Souvereyns develops his own visual language, balancing between concrete points
of recognition and a degree of abstraction.
Those who take the time to look closely and read the works attentively discover, through their layered nature, a slowly revealing figuration. Every millimeter of the paper is filled with a uniform pencil tone (hardness), stimulating the viewer’s curiosity. In his autonomous drawings, Fabrice frequently and obsessively fills the page with natural fragments, sometimes erasing them just as fanatically afterward. What remains is a surface of obsessive traces, giving the drawings the appearance of tattooed skins.
