Wrote a tribute to a woman whose fashion was cinema for the @nytimes .
“The Diane Keaton look consisted of high necklines and oddball takes on traditionally male looks — hats and blazers; turtlenecks and button-downs; scarves and ties: menswear reimagined for herself. Other women would try to emulate her on red carpets or even in movies, like Meg Ryan in ‘When Harry Met Sally’ (1989), for example. And yet, for the imitators, these ensembles looked like costumes. For Keaton, they were an ethos.”
I profiled the brilliant @fullyrosebyrne for the cover of this Sunday’s @latimes_entertainment . She gives the performance of a lifetime, one of the best of the year, in @marywallwashere ’s harrowing, hilarious If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
Some news: I am writing a book about GIRLS and that weird moment in time that looking back felt totally revolutionary and also predicted where we are now.
