“IfIShotAnEditorialFor-iD.” 📸‼️ - Howdy 👋🏾‼️ lets get to it… Back again with some more heat for ya headtop from the series “Flows”. Now, on this day I really wasn’t planning to take any photos 🤣 (that didn’t last long…) Initially, me and the homie Frames stepped out to get some shots of myself in these Nike jumpers that i purchased some weeks prior. Throughout the day, the shoot was going alright. But there’s just that part of my brain that was itching that needed to scratched… 🤣‼️ The homie was steezin out on a light flex, there was not a chance that the thought of not capturing the fit would leave my brain. So I did what I do best 🤷🏾‍♂️‼️ At the time when I shot these pictures, I had this visual in my mind of an editorial aesthetic; quite 35mm-esque with washed out tones. Something you’ll see on the front cover of @i_d or a 4-6 page spread. At the time, I couldn’t quite nail the colour grading for it and pretty much left the edits in the archives. 6 and a half years later… The power of revisitation 🤌🏾‼️ Never doubt your ability/skill; go and rack up the XP, then spin the block again. 💡‼️ You just never know… Anyways, enough chattings. Me and the Unaji boys are 3FOR3 with these collabs, we’ve done put up too many numbers in the last 18 months and some change. Back in July, Eman gave me the bird call to flick it up for his latest collection of SS25. It was a busy year for the Unaji camp. From trips to Cannes for the Lions x TikTok event, securing another spot on the Artist Residency program at @artotellondonhoxton for their August calendar, a few 1of1 pieces for a few industry heads, them boys were not letting up at all. A proper milestone for them was their “Yellow Brick Road” exhibition that was in August, it was really a testament to their success; showing that this life is a marathon and not a race. That rejection is not failure, but a stepping stone in the journey to the end goal. “ABlueCageStory.” ⛹🏾‍♂️🏀✨‼️ - Yo Yo Yo Yoooooooo‼️ Back for the final drop of the year, let’s be seated shall we… Back in August, I had the luxury of going to the Awake:NY x Jordan activation at the Blue Cage basketball court in promotion for the Jordan 5 collab. Nice lil day out with ballers from all over London and a lil further coming to the SouthSide to show off their skillset in 1v1s, 3v3s and dunking competitions. Life before 1-9 was just a sight to behold. 2nd year uni was in full swing, I was feeling my steeze a bit more, fully outside with it. Clicked up with ppl from all walks of life. Now… til this day, I couldn’t really pinpoint to how me and Shauntel acc became peoples, all I know is that we clicked off the rip🤞🏾‼️ But yhhh, this is Shauntel (or Telly as I like to call her) she from New York… BX to be exact (Uptown, but not that uptown) and across the Holland Tunnel in the land of Jersey. “StandinOnAll8s.” 🛼⚡️‼️ - Yo Yo Yo Yoooooooo‼️ Back again with some more heat for ya headtop from the series “Flows”. Life after 1-9 was a funny one. Knowing the world went on pause for a bit, you had nothing but time on your hands and new hobbies to keep yourself occupied with. Skating was one of those things for most ppl; nearing the end of summer 2020, there was a small resurgence in the London skating scene. Seeing first timers take a liking to the rush of gliding around on 8 wheels. Within 6-8months, the skating scene was in full effect again. Seeing newbies, oldsklers and veterans inbetween come to together and share a common experience. From then, we started to see skating groups form, street skating sessions, link ups at Vauxhall, Riverside and Bethnal Green etc. bringing the ppl from all walks of life one skate at a time! ✨‼️ As the spring of 2021 rolled around, skating became a daily thing for most ppl; any opportunity one had, they’ll take it… impromptu skate meet ups — they’re there no questions. I happened to be out and about after another shoot. Hopped on iG and saw a lil skate link up in Hyde Park. Having done a panel talk with ArtMeetsCulture at @artotellondonhoxton that July, Eman managed to secure a spot on their Artist in Residence program at their Battersea branch for the October period. With it being a hotel that immerses itself in contemporary art. The aim of the program is to give back to the local community; by shining the light on up and coming artists, whilst providing a space for them to showcase their art and host immersive workshops: sharing their practices with culture hunters from around the world. “SafeSide.” ❤️‍🩹🔐✨‼️ - What it do my ppldem, let’s kick off the year with some pieces straight off the lot… 🔋‼️ Sometime back in May, the homie Cas shouted me to come take some BTS shots for a visualiser that he was working on with a musician called Max Valentine. Seen some of his work around, done a few songs with other known artists like Nines on his “Crop Circle 3” album. It didn’t dawn on me until much later where I remembered seeing his name from (about 7 years have passed since “Nights in Harlem”) Me being me; anytime I get the call up, imma always come and deliver exceptionally and do what needs to be done. 😂‼️ Nevertheless. While we’re still South of the river, just a stones throw away in Southwark; we came to keep up with the boiii KamzoSTP (see what I did there…) ⚡️‼️ As the brother of one the most notable players in the pioneering of the UK afroswing sound, stepping up to the plate to fly the flag of that last name may come as a challenge to many. For my man, he’s managed to go above and beyond. With many titles in his arsenal as: presenter, podcaster, fashionista, actor, content creator, artist consultant, master of ceremonies. The list goes forth. At his core, he’s a fine diner of all things Afrobeats. Kamzo has managed to carve out his own path in this industry, finding more than one way to stack that paper… 🤌🏾‼️ I’ve met Kamzo on a few occasions at events, for me it just made sense in my mind for him to have his own segment; the dots connected perfectly. The day we met up to do this piece, was just a trip down memory lane despite us being from opposite sides of the river. “There’s more to life than the block” But we understood why people don’t like to leave the block… Community 🔋‼️ and that’s something you can’t put a price on. 📠‼️ The blocks will continue to live on forever, OTB will be back on your timeline at a later date.
