why are we so scared to express ourselves?

why are we afraid of failing,
after having proven time and time again that success is imminent?
“someone could miss take my mistake for intention.”
why is that the metric?
why do we fear excommunication?
“without the people’s mercy, i starve.”
mind you,
why would a craftsman
be afraid of condemnation
from villagers who purchase their vases?
in reality,
we care because?
