Now that it’s official, I can finally tell you all that EKF is planting some new roots…in NEW YORK CITY 😭🗽🥹🌃🚕
Because of the incredible support system that has been built around me, Noona and I hopped on a flight with a few of my most treasured items just over three weeks ago and made the cross-country move to one of my favorite places in the entire world to make some dreams come true.
This city has inspired me endlessly, and at a time in my life where I find myself redefining who I am, it felt important to do that somewhere new. Somewhere that has always captured my heart and, at times, held me together when I really needed it. Sometimes, you have to go through the hardest time in your life to set yourself free. And then your wildest, craziest dreams stop feeling optional - they become something you fight for ❤️
This move is that for me.
For the last several months, the team and I have taken every single step, leaving no stone unturned, to make this move go as seamlessly as possible for both them and myself. It should come as no surprise to me that a team that has seen me through so much would support this next adventure so wholly. And yet it has still knocked the wind out of me ❤️🩹
Back in Denver, everything is operating as it has been for years, minus someone bopping around and distracting everyone with their creative ideas every five minutes 😉❤️
I really struggle to put into words what the team is offering me right now. From packing up an entire replica of the dye studio for me, to throwing me a surprise farewell party, to creating playlists and daily team meetings - this trust fall into them is the first that has ever felt good in my entire life. There have been a lot of happy tears - in Denver and here in Brooklyn - every time it actually sinks in. They are giving me the freedom to explore this new place, to take a full breath after what feels like years of holding it, and to slowly figure out how to be me again.

Part 1 of setting up my Brooklyn Dye Studio 😭❤️
Even typing that feels surreal, and I am so gd excited that this gets to be my life 🥹 is it a ton of work? absolutely. am I lightly overwhelmed and tired? for sure. but in a way, I am living out my dream while also returning to myself — solo in the dye studio again, spending a lot of my time working on creative development (well, not yet, but SOON 😅). I’ve missed this side of things so much over the past several years, but a lot of incredible things and beautiful moments replaced these ones when EKF grew. now, trying to come back to nourish my creative energy after it felt so depleted feels like a gift.
This is just the beginning of lots of new and exciting things, I can feel it 😌✨
YOU X Leave No Trace 🤩🌈❤️
I just spent the last hour scrolling through all of the photos that y’all sent us of things that you have made with our Leave No Trace Collection. Halfway through, I found myself getting emotional over the beauty of it all. Not only is it the most magical thing in the world to get to create and play with color and to have you all create something even MORE beautiful out of it, but to have you take something imperfect, something a little rough around the edges, and transform it into something that becomes a part of your wardrobe?…it feels pretty special. This realization forced me to refocus on what we’re doing here — using our hands every day, hand-dyeing every single skein of yarn, in pots and trays, on little stools, wearing rain boots and waterproof pants, creating something we love. Not everything is perfect, but that’s the beauty of what we get to do here. There’s something human about it, knowing that every single skein has traveling through our dye studio and then seeing what you’ve created with our ‘less than perfect’ skeins makes my heart so incredibly happy. You all truly are the best, and we’re so grateful that you have brought new life to these Leave No Trace skeins for us ❤️

The New + Improved LEAVE NO TRACE is BACK!! ❤️🤩🌈
For the first time last fall, we completely overhauled our Leave No Trace Collection for Small Business Saturday. It’s safe to say that y’all LOVED the new version, and we’re delighted to let you know that our ✨new✨ Leave No Trace will be offered on a bi-annual basis — in May and in November.
Coming this Sunday at 7pm Mountain Time, we will have Leave No Trace (LNT) skeins available at $15 each!!! Every EKF yarn base will have its own listing, and everything will be organized by type of yarn, tonal or variegated, and then color family within each base (reds/pinks, greens, blues, purples, etc.) with a LIST of the possible colorways available for THIS exact update. This is a slight upgrade from last November, where only listed a couple of potential colorways within color families. Now, we’re listing everything we’ve got, so you know exactly what type of colorways you’ll be receiving for this launch. Our goal with this new format is to take away *most* of the mystery while also letting you shop in a way that feels more tailored to whatever project you’re dreaming up!
Now, let’s chat about price again 👀 in the past, LNT skeins ranged from $20-25/skein, but as our quality control checks have increased over the last few years, we’ve grown *quite* the collection of ‘seconds’ skeins for y’all to peruse 😌 As EKF has grown, we’ve worked extremely hard to maintain our high quality standards, and with that, it means more skeins getting aside. These two times a year are, quite honestly, the only time we can ever afford to sell our hand-dyed yarn as this low of a price, and we so, so deeply appreciate your support every time we launch Leave No Trace. The team and I genuinely feel so grateful for your support and that you’ve been on this journey with us for as long as you have…this is our little way of saying thanks ❤️

Normalizing Irish Goodbyes with the return of this one and its five tonal friends 😈 We are truly ecstatic to share with you the color pairings we’ve come up for Sample of the Month for May. Each month, not only do the team and I put our heads together to come up with incredible pairings, but a palette that feels cohesive altogether, and this one makes me feel particularly proud ❤️
Irish Goodbye + Wooly, the colorways used in the original sample, were created for the Ireland Collection that launched back in 2022. Irish Goodbye remains one of the most requested EKF colorways, so we’re DELIGHTED to have it coming back in this lil way for y’all! Trailhead + Good Will Conquer Evil, both created in 2025, were a part of the Middle of the Map + Wicked Collections, and are definitely winning for favorite duo for this month’s launch. The team simply CANNOT get over these two together - can you blame them? 😍 And finally, we’ve got Framboise + Butternut. Framboise was created as a tonal pairing to a colorway from our Brew Club back in 2029 (iykyk), and Butternut was created in 2020 for our very first advent calendar. These two together feel like a cozy, warm hug, and isn’t that exactly what we need right now?!
Megan, one of our lovely sample knitters-turned-friend and also DESIGNER(!), knit this sample for us back in the summer of 2022 when we had just moved into our EKF Studio 🥹 Makes me feel like I’m being transported back to that summer every time I look at it ❤️
May’s Sample of the Month launches TONIGHT, Saturday, May 9th at 7pm Mountain Time. Sample of the Month, our 2026 Club, will be a monthly offering that has a turnaround time of four weeks.

This is one of my favorite samples we have ever had made, and it happens to include one of the colorways that y’all are always (ALWAYS 😂) asking us to bring back: Irish Goodbye. Irish Goodbye and its contrast colorway mate, Wooly, both came from the Ireland Collection that we launched for the first time back in 2022, but more on that later when we reveal the rest of the colorways tomorrow 👀🇮🇪
The Gr8 Gingham Raglan has such a great fit and adds so much fun to the ‘classic’ raglan design. I absolutely LOVE knitting colorwork sweaters, and this one genuinely flies off the needles since it’s knit up in our Rockies DK base. My version is cropped like the OG that Jessie designed, but you can absolutely modify if you like a longer fit for your sweaters! This duo, along with two other color palettes, will be available for May’s SOTM launch tomorrow, May 9th, at 7pm MT.

Seeing through BUTTERCHROME eyes 😍🌈🦋✨
Over the past week, and honestly over the last month, I feel like everywhere I turn, I see the colors of the Butterchrome Collection. A reminder that little bursts of color are spreading joy everywhere, inspiring us to create, to share joy, to lean in and follow our silly little whims 😌 At some point in the last couple of weeks, I started snapping photos every time I saw Butterchrome IRL, and I wanted to share it with you now, along with the patterns I have been daydreaming about personally making from this collection 🥹 This one has been such a labor of love and has created so much joy during a period of immense change. Getting to hang out with this collection a little bit longer has given me a moment to really sit with it, to take a breath and tease out my own ideas for the collection, what I love about it, what color pairings I would do, which has left my heart feeling very, very full — like the feeling you get when you see a rainbow after a storm ⛈️🌈

IT’S BUTTERCHROME DAY, Y’ALL!! 🦋🌈✨ This day feels so happy and exciting to me — we’re launching a collection bursting with color and whimsy and it’s exactly what I needed this spring 😭🌱 Getting to spend so much time with these twenty colorways has encouraged me to push the boundaries I had in my head when it comes to using color, and I’m not going to lie, stepping out of yet another box feels pretty dang good 🥹 I hope you all love this one as much as I do - I can’t wait to see what you create with it!!
