A Love Letter to Intermezzo - Turning a Page đĽš
Iâve always had an intense love for travelingâso much so that most of what I create is inspired by the places Iâve been lucky enough to explore. Over the last year, that love deepened. I found myself yearning to see new places, not just for the adventure, but because I was finally starting to finally find myself. With every trip, every day, every moment I stepped outside my ânorm,â I felt something new taking shapeâlike the mold of who I thought I was had begun to shift in a way that felt not just exciting, but right. Each new experience I faced, especially when I was alone, helped me see more clearly who I am. I started to trust myself, loosen my shoulders, unclench my jaw, and walk along unfamiliar paths with an ease and lightness I never imagined I could have.
Â
These tripsâboth solo and with friendsâhave expanded and nurtured my relationship with myself and with others in such a meaningful way. Meeting strangers who become friends, sharing meals with long-distance loved ones halfway across the world, letting yourself get lost just so you can find pieces of yourself again, one adventure at a time.
Â
Thatâs what feels so beautiful about Intermezzo to me. Having the chance to invite all of you on a trip with usâdoing things we love and stand behind with such joy and intentionâis such a gift. Whether we do this only once or for years to come, the opportunity to share time together, to be inspired, and to explore side by side will be a true highlight of my life. Your trust in us fuels our trust in one another, and we cannot wait to see what grows from this space between usâthis pause, this Intermezzo. â¤ď¸
Our love letter to Intermezzo: A New Chapterâ
â
Last November, I visited Ali in Denver for a quick weekend getaway. I was in the middle of some substantial life changes and feeling uncertain about what the future might look like. We spent the weekend eating and drinking our way through the city, laughing until our cheeks hurt, sharing stories, and dreaming about what tomorrow could hold.â
â
Somewhere in those conversations, we landed on natural dyeing - an art we were both deeply drawn to in the fiber arts world, but had never taken the time to truly explore. I had followed @gulddk for years, quietly imagining that one day Iâd get the chance to join one of their workshops. When I showed Ali their work, we discovered they had just opened spots for their September session. It didnât feel like coincidence - it felt like a door opening, gently pointing me toward my next steps.â
â
When we finally traveled to Denmark this past September, the experience was transformative. Copenhagen filled me with new inspiration, and the natural dye workshop reignited something in my craft - but the decision to start Intermezzo was the change that shifted everything.â
â
This year has been full of moments where I can look back and say, âthere was before, and there was after.â Denmark was one of those moments - the true intermezzo between two chapters of my life. 2025 brought so much change, but Iâm ending the year unbelievably excited for whatâs ahead.â
â
At its core, this year has been about growth - about letting myself evolve, trust the uncertainty, and rediscover who I really am. Creating this retreat with Ali has felt like choosing myself in a new way, and I hope they offer the same space for discovery to everyone who joins us.â
â
- Jessâ
The workshop with @gulddk is held at the farm at Tingager - an incredibly special place that inspires creativity and evokes a deep sense of stillness. Every detail feels lovingly considered, and every corner invites you in like a home youâve somehow known forever.â
â
We gather over amazing meals, afternoon tea, and knitting by the fire pit. The rolling hills of the countryside invite you to slow down and truly appreciate the beauty found in quiet moments.â
â
Itâs the kind of place that stays with you long after youâve left - a space where inspiration takes shape and connection comes naturally. We canât wait for you to experience the magic of Tingager with us.â

INTERMEZZO: Denmark is happening September 19â26, 2026 â¤ď¸ Limited spots will be available on the EKF website on Sunday, November 23rd at 7pm Mountain Time.â
Thereâs something magical about creating color from plants - the kind of magic that reminds you the natural world already holds everything you need to make something beautiful. Working with nature in this way feels grounding, pure, and deeply connective, and weâve never felt that more than during our time spent with @gulddk .
Over four inspiring days, we explored the art of natural dyes, creating 70 shades from walnut, cochineal, madder, indigo, and the plants we foraged ourselves. Each hue carried its own story, reminding us that this art has a full and rich history.
It was a chance to slow down and truly appreciate what the world offers us every day. We canât wait to share this experience with you during our retreat next September - a journey of color, craft, and curiosity â¨

When we decided to travel to Copenhagen together this Fall, we had no idea how transformational the city would be. From slow mornings that began with warm pastries to wandering through neighborhoods on cobblestone streets, and meals filled with laughter and shared joy, the city gave us a renewed inspiration. It immediately invited us in and felt like a place we were always meant to be.â
â
We canât wait to return with you to the city where Intermezzo began. Our time in Copenhagen will include a mix of sightseeing, good food, and of course - yarn.â
