Overland Expo West 2026: People, builds, gear, and good times learning from fellow travelers. If you’re not here, what content do you want me to bring you? If you are here, be sure to say hi 👋 —— #overlandexpo #overland

What’s the most memorable adventure you’ve had going to or from #OverlandExpo? —— One that stands out for me was a post Expo West off-road adventure through Death Valley with @theroadchoseme . Good friends, exploring new routes to them, in capable vehicles, and just winging it. —— Also, do I miss the #EEGX? Sometimes. It was nimble, super capable, and always reliable. My @aevconversions Prospector is not as nimble, but still super capable, has WAY more power, hauls way more gear effortlessly, and has modern tech like adaptive cruise that makes roadtrips less fatiguing.

#WaybackWednesday: As I roll into another #OverlandExpo I’m thinking back to dreaming up, building, and living in the #EEXP. I learned so much about so much in the process. —— “The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, they make them.” -George Bernard Shaw.

What are your thoughts on the latest expedition camper to hit the market? This is the #WinnebagoARKA, and these are my initial impressions, before seeing it in person next week at Overland Expo West. —— #expeditioncamper #winnebago #overland #rv

Stoked to share some new perspectives with my latest photography tool, a drone. Also stoked on this 3500 diesel @aevconversions Prospector build, with 37” @bfgoodrichtires , @smartcap_official bed cap, @yakimaracks HD setup, and @warnindustries / @factor55 winch & recovery gear. This setup easily pulls our 25’ 4-season travel trailer home and carries all our toys just about anywhere. While the drone currently has zero miles on it, this ‘26 truck already has over 17k.

Here’s a little #ThrowbackThursday on #WorldLandRoverDay. Great times with the @lucky8offroad #Defender90, with a V8 under the hood and rolling on 35s, on the #DanielBooneBackcountryByway a few years ago. Great vehicle with big capabilities, awesome people, and exploring an epic landscape is a recipe for good times! —— I love photography, especially capturing action. I think I should get back to my roots and produce more images like this. Do you want to see more of my photography?

RAW: Morning after #DefenderTrophy. Proud of my performance, but disappointed it wasn’t enough to secure a top spot. Stoked for the worthy competitors that did earn top spots, and for everyone that got to be involved in this epic experience. I love competition, and if given the chance would 1 million % do this again, and be even more prepared.

Final Day of #DefenderTrophy 2026. This is just a small taste of the day, as I was far too busy competing to capture much of the action on my camera, but I assure you a lot of it is forever imprinted on my mind. Such great memories! While the vehicles and challenges were cool, it was once again a day about working together with rad people to accomplish big things. And the final task…so good!

Day 1 (of 2): #DefenderTrophy 2026. First half of the day was travel and orientation, the second half was a lot of physical tasks. These tasks range from 1 person, to 4 person, to 8 person, to 10 person, to 40 person teams. Skills tested included hi-lift, compass, teamwork, swimming, running, winch theory, interview, strength, balance, and so much more. This video is just a little taste. I honestly captured very little of the event, as I was too busy trying to win it, which required a lot of continuous physical and mental effort.

It’s hard to put into words my experience at Defender Trophy. I’ll share more videos soon, which will hopefully give you a deeper look into what this epic adventure competition was all about, but for now, here are a few photos I was able to capture as I competed. Today, I just want to say thank you to all my fellow competitors and teammates, as well as everyone on the event team, for creating such a truly world class experience. I feel honored and privileged to have been a part of it. I’m exhausted in all the ways, but so stoked on the friendships and memories made. #defendertrophy

It’s been a wild ride! Today marks 6 years at AllGear Digital, exactly to the day. I’m proud of the over 600 articles I wrote and the few thousand I curated and edited. Experiencing new things, places, and people are big motivators in my life, and I did a lot of all of that over the past 6 years. I want to thank my wife and kiddo for putting up with my crazy travel schedule and late nights, all the amazing people I’ve worked with directly at @thegearjunkie (both coworkers and freelancers), and all the industry friends I’ve made along the way. And, with that, it’s my last day as the GearJunkie Motors Editor. I’m not sure what’s next professionally, but I do know the adventures will continue.

The stoke is high! This short video was part of the application that got me a spot in the #DefenderTrophy North American selections later this week. It will no doubt be an amazing and challenging competition. This isn’t a media thing. Anyone could have applied, and I have to pay my own way. The goal: make the 2 person U.S. team and compete in the finals later this year in Africa, along with an amazing conservative project. Wish me luck! I’m going to need it, as I know I’ll be competing against a lot of very impressive people.
