Lupo Città is a trio featuring Chris Brokaw (guitar, vocals)—a longtime Cambridge-based musician known for his work with Codeine, Come, Martha’s Vineyard Ferries—alongside Boston-based members Sarah Black (guitar, bass) and Jenn Gori (vocals, drums), both formerly of Minneapolis garage rock bands.
$500 are an indie rock trio from upstate NY. Composed of guitarist Ian Donohue, bassist/vocalist Kaitlyn Flanagan, and drummer Lilly Griffin, the trio released their debut record, Twelve Eyes, back in the Fall of 2025. They’ve got a cool feature up on @uglyhug_ today, check it out!
Exploding Zones is an experimental space rock trio from Providence, Rhode Island. Featuring Mike Duffy (guitar/vocals), Christopher Kelley (bass), and Eric Smith (drums), the band fuses heavy, psychedelic atmospheres with the raw power of fuzzed-out 90s alt-rock.
SHOW UPDATE: Due to reasons beyond our control, Top 5 Fiend is going to be moving the next edition of our First Fridays series happening on July 3rd from Buttonwoods Brewery to the News Cafe in Pawtucket, RI. We still got a killer bill featuring Future Stories, Robotic Hawks, The Sugar Cones and Exploding Zones!!! It's still starting at 8pm and it's still $10 at the door, but now it's 21+!!

Ugly Moon (Album Release) / Exploding Zones / Girl with a Hawk

Ugly Moon is the music of brothers Mike & Matt Mowry, bassist Johnny McMahon, and drummer Ian McMillan. Known for delivering heavy, guitar-driven folk and indie rock with a raw, emotional core. Their sound is both retrospective and poignant, weaving between tender, contemplative melodies and aggressive, unfiltered intensity. Ugly Moon crafts songs that feel deeply personal yet universally resonant.
Exploding Zones formed in 2022 as a trio up until recently adding a second guitar. Fuzzy basslines and driving drums carry the washes of guitar throughout their live set as well as their two eps.
Girl with a Hawk is an indie rock band whose sound shifts effortlessly between shimmering indie pop, rootsy folk-country textures, and punchy garage-rock energy. Their dynamic style balances loose, expressive performances with tightly crafted songwriting, creating sets that feel both spontaneous and polished. While their recorded singles impress, Girl with a Hawk truly shines onstage, delivering electrifying live shows that transform their songs into something raw, immediate, and unforgettable.
@myrtle.rhodeisland is a special place beyond description which has become my favorite hang. Glad that there are still some independent places where creativity reigns. @girl_with_a_hawk_band_official will have the honor of playing there for our first time this Saturday with a couple of other cool RI bands, @ugly.moon.music (their album release!) and @explodingzones We kick things off at 8 (perfect for you early birds!).
