Repost @themosaicrooms ポポポ The Mosaic Rooms will be closed Friday 31 May. We are calling on all UK and international arts and cultural colleagues to join us in the strike for Palestine. We believe that to continue operating in a world where this is allowed to happen is unconscionable and unacceptable. If you are joining the strike, please find the visual assets in our bio. We encourage you share the graphics together with the action that you personally, institutionally or collectively will be taking as a form of active solidarity. Please use the hashtag #culturalstrike4palestine Some pointers for organising at work are on the second slide. Design by: @javhux / @migrantsinculture

•• New in EXN Lagoon •• Riccardo Badano & Hanna Rullmann • Something of the Sun The work describes the historical movement of palm trees to the northern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, as a result of a well-oiled choreography rooted in orientalist fascination and colonial longing. It reflects on the making of images and imaginations of locality, through the case of 'stranger' plant species, which are made to belong via acclimatisation processes that allow for the convenient merging of exoticism and ownership. •• New in EXN Lagoon •• Riccardo Badano & Hanna Rullmann • Something of the Sun   This new digital rendition of Something of the Sun for EXN Lagoon evades the formal finalisation of the essay film, to play with moving images, audio, and text as interwoven, fastidiously overlapping material. The online show invites visitors to spend time with the findings, filling the precarious position once occupied by the artists/researchers themselves.  EXN Lagoon is curated by @chiaracartuccia With the support of @aceagrams 🌴🔗 link in bio 🔗🌴 . . . #exnunc #mediterranean #riccardobadano #hannarullmann #somethingonthesun

•• New in EXN Lagoon •• Riccardo Badano & Hanna Rullmann • Something of the Sun Palm trees dot the landscape of the French/Italian Riviera, as the most common of any pseudo-tropical Mediterranean sight. Something of the Sun is a research project developed by practitioners @riccardo_badano and @hannarullmann It is an expandable conversation about climate, as reality and fabrication, as inconvenience and weapon.   The work describes the historical movement of palm trees to the northern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, as a result of a well-oiled choreography rooted in orientalist fascination and colonial longing. •• New in EXN Lagoon •• Maria Nalbantova - The Sofia Sea “A lot of jokes appeared: jokes about crocodiles that were going to swim in the waters of Sofia, jokes about how shovels would be changed into oars” Sofia Sea is the popularised nickname of a macro-engineeristic plan that, in its original ambition, would have allowed to bring the Black Sea inland, to transform the Bulgarian capital into a port-city. Commissioned by EX NUNC in the framework of EXN Lagoon, this new digital work by @marianalbantova guides us through the subsequent phases of promise and demise of an implausible venture. Nalbantova’s fairy-tell-like storytelling describes a process of catastrophic deflation of misplaced ambition, the crumbling down of the aspiration to dominate both geography and people. As the seemingly unrealistic story reaches for its less-than-spectacular conclusion, we witness the transformation of a single case into an all-encompassing manifestation of the mechanics of control and power.  EXN Lagoon is curated by @chiaracartuccia With the support of @aceagrams 🐊 🔗 Link in bio 🔗 🐊 . . . #exnunc #exnlagoon #marianalbantova #thesofiasea #mediterranean
