At Long Play on Sunday, May 3 at @bricbrooklyn Exceptet performs Vangelis’s pioneering score to the first episode of FrĂ©dĂ©ric Rossif’s 1973 docuseries, L’Apocalypse des animaux, live-to-film, arranged by clarinetist Chuck Furlong. Vangelis’s music accompanying this documentary has become a cult classic, but to our knowledge, this Rossif series has never been screened in the US—certainly not with a live chamber ensemble! Featuring material that doesn’t exist anywhere else, this performance brings to life both a classic film and its score. Hear this astonishing show and So. Much. Spotlight on composer @maxvinetz ! With music described as “accomplished and appealing” (San Diego Story) and “shimmering
euphoric” (Chicago Classical Review), Max Vinetz is an award-winning composer whose music thrives at the intersection of improvisatory, popular, and traditional classical forms, exploring how these convergences shape and reflect identity transformation over time. His work often focuses on the perception of rhythmic and timbral events, weaving intricate relationships between narrative, musical objects, and sonic artifacts across various media. MEET EXCEPTET: Sarah Goldfeather is the co-founder, artistic director and violinist and occasional singer for Exceptet. Raised in Minnesota, Sarah enjoys reading, guerilla pun-slinging, kickboxing, and she moonlights as an English Professor at Rutgers University-Newark. Her Duolingo streak is over 2000 days and as a result she can speak Mandarin and French very poorly. She had mismatched her socks since she was seven-years old. As a violinist, Sarah has performed on many stages, including Broadway, TEDxMET, and Lincoln Center. As a composer, she has written music for Timo Andres and groups such as Contemporaneous, ETHEL, Alkemie, W4RP, and of course, Exceptet (see “Mouth Full Of Ears” on our album, Tree Lines). Sarah also co-writes and performs music for the experimental pop band Goldfeather with 2026 GRAMMY-winning sound engineer Mike Tierney. In addition to performing and writing, Sarah is a Teaching Artist for Musicambia, a music education program that works with incarcerated populations, and is currently the interim Program Director at Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
