We’re excited to share that we were featured on Cable 14 Hamilton Life for @excelinstyle and we had a BIG announcement to make! Introducing The Open Chair 💈Our newest initiative is all about bringing free barbering services directly into local schools. This program is designed to help ease the financial burden on families, ensure students have access to essential grooming, and support confidence in and out of the classroom. By addressing appearance-based bullying and helping students feel their best, we’re working toward creating a more positive, inclusive school environment because when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you’re more likely to show up, engage, and succeed. Stay tuned… this is just the beginning.

#HamOnt Last night, I was proud to attend the Excel in Style Appreciation Night @excelinstyle at the beautiful @westdalecinema to celebrate the incredible people behind a community effort that is making a real difference for Hamiltonians. A special thank you to @lohifa for inviting me to be part of this meaningful evening, knowing how important it was for me to recognize personally the impact this initiative is having across our city – in supporting hundreds of young people and families in Hamilton. To every stylist, barber, braider, volunteer, vendor, organizer and partner who helped make it happen — thank you for giving your time, talent and care. By helping young people feel confident, proud and ready for school, you are strengthening our community and supporting families when it matters most. This is what Hamilton does best: people coming together, lifting each other up, and creating opportunities that benefit Hamiltonians today and for the future.

Style isn’t about what you wear … style is about how you show up. Hamilton showed up. Hamilton showed out ⚡️ ✂️ 436 youth with textured hair styled ✂️ By over 70 stylists and barbers ✂️ Powered by 120 volunteers March 21st goes down as one of the most meaningful days in so many of the lives of Black, racialized and underserved children and youth in our community. The 2nd annual @excelinstyle event celebrated culture, community, and the power and potential of young people. Last night at @westdalecinema we relived the experience 🎥 Tears, laughter - fantastic food, speakers and of course the unveiling of Excel In Style - The Movie. Link in bio @washday.show Wash Day is an interdisciplinary arts production that brings together storytelling, visual art, and movement to explore the lived experiences of Black women and femmes. Framed as a love letter, the project reflects themes of coming-of-age, ancestry, community care, resistance, and celebration.   At its core, Wash Day creates space to honor everyday rituals and cultural practices that shape identity and self-expression, particularly in relation to textured hair. It also invites reflection on the impacts of misogynoir, while centering lived experiences in a way that fosters dialogue, affirmation, and a deeper sense of belonging (both within the Black community and beyond).
