I wrestled with whether I wanted to publicly admit the story was my own, after making Outside My Window. The film is about a side of myself that I masked for years and dealt with behind closed doors. There was something about saying it out loud that took the power away and I felt like I had slayed a dragon in the end.
Running in parallel to the making of this film was a major piece of personal healing, self-love, and coming closer to authenticity. I have always created my art to rewind the cassette tape over and over again, to make sense of something within myself or gain a better sense of the world around me.
I am grateful for the privilege to have had access to resources that have kept me here to fight. It is my hope that by sharing this film, it might inspire some of you to donate to The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in honour of the 75th annual Mental Health Week (May 4th - 10th, 2026), and extend that privilege to others who are struggling.
