We love putting synths through @ikmultimedia ‘s Amplitube, they sound massive! It’s great for adding a guitar like edge to all kinds of sounds. (Even guitars, who would have known!)
Now that we’re BACK IN THE STUDIO WRITING NEW MUSIC we thought we’d start posting about some of the tools we’ll be using & give some insight into our process.
First up is the criminally underrated @synapseaudio Dune 3, sonically it’s one of the best modern synths we’ve used & there’s a depth & purity to it that really floats our boat. It can sound percussive, punchy, lush, beautiful or aggressive all while retaining an almost emotional / druggy richness we haven’t heard anywhere else.
One of our favourite things to do is stack up 32 wavetable oscillators per voice (you can stack up to 8320 in total !!) and detune them to create a rave monster, layer with a sine wave on a second oscillator for depth, add tight pitch & amp envelopes to create a percussive attack, compress, lightly distort & add a tight reverb (All internally). Even though this is a very simple patch you can create on a lot of different synths none of them result it the tight richness of Dune, it’s heavy AF!!!!

Posted @withregram • @sarah_brownlow I am running a community focussed, portrait fundraiser for the @thebenraemersfoundation on Monday (@goskateboardingday 21/6/21). It aims to raise awareness and start important conversations around issues of mental health; particularly within the context of the skateboarding world.
A pop up photography studio will be set up in the MacLaren building next to The Level Skatepark. You are all invited to ‘come as you are’ between 8am and 7pm and have a professional portrait taken in return for a donation to the Ben Raemer’s Foundation. The studio portrait project aims to unite a community, celebrate individuality, and raise awareness of mental health issues.
