On day two of the 2024 Magma Coalition Forum an inspiring ‘Fireside Chat’ from @reshmasaujani and @camillehardmantv , on Advocating for Gender Equality by Building Connections among Diverse Women--told the history of how Saujani came to found Girls Who Code and when she was galvanized to found Moms First during the pandemic.
Saujani spoke about the need in the US for universal paid leave, the economic burden of childcare many Americans face, and hope for a change in workplace culture and how we work. She also urged us to “talk to the men in your life!” We are excited to share more of this fireside chat with excerpts and video in the next few weeks!

The second Magma Coalition Forum panel was ‘Campfire Storytelling’ held by Andrea Reyes, Manju Bangalore, and Rochelle Rodney--three incredible and accomplished leaders in the fight for gender equity! This panel, ‘Digging Beneath Our Feet to Advance Gender Equity,’ showcased the monumental leaps forward in that fight each of these women have accomplished.
In case you weren’t lucky enough to be there, each speaker had a clear message: Be brave, especially when it’s hard. Show up as your authentic self. DO THE WORK!

A new report by Manatt Health Strategies and their partners, funded in part by @everypagefound , reveals that Texas' restrictive abortion laws are prompting OB/GYNs and residents to consider changes to their careers—many are planning to leave the state or alter their practice. This trend threatens to further reduce access to essential reproductive healthcare services, worsening the state’s existing challenges.
🔍 Key Findings:
❗ 76% of OB/GYNs feel unable to practice according to best practices due to these restrictions.
❗ 44% have already changed or are considering changes to how and where they practice.
❗ Residency programs are bearing the burden, arranging out-of-state rotations to fulfill training needs.

🌆 Every time I step into New York, I feel the city’s electric pulse brimming with possibility. This time was no exception, as I joined the Magma Coalition 2024 hosted by @everypagefound . Picture this: a dynamic salon, thoughtfully curated by Executive Director Breea Govenar and Artist and Founder Kaleta A Doolan, set right beside the evocative Elizabeth Catlett @elizabeth.catlett exhibition at the @brooklynmuseum
The room was filled with powerhouse women: fellowship recipients, grant beneficiaries, board members, and all-around trailblazers! Each brought a unique story, but we shared a common purpose—our passion for science, art, and activism. 🌍✨
I was inspired by every single one of them: 🔹 A geoscientist who’s creating a complete map of the ocean floor with her “Girl Talk” workshops. 🔹 An engineer turned art curator, blending tech and creativity. 🔹 An astrophysicist exploring menstrual health in space while her organization distributes menstrual products to women in need. 🔹 A marine biologist studying the impact of pollution on Belizean coral reefs and coastal communities. 🔹 A former Chair of Planned Parenthood Federation 🔹 A symphony horn player championing gender equality in orchestras 🔹 CEO of the ERA Coalition and many other leaders committed to advancing women’s health, reproductive rights, and justice.
Invited to screen an excerpt of @stillworking9to5 while being surrounded by these fierce, brilliant women reminded me of the power we hold when we lift each other up. I left feeling energized, inspired, and ready to turn ideas into action. 💥
