The DMs don’t lie. ☕️
After our past episode on Subcontracting, you all had a LOT to say.
We’re airing it all out in today’s episode: The Artist-to-Agent pathway. It starts as a “business move,” but it’s quickly becoming a breeding ground for predatory behavior.
We’re talking:
❌ Whitelabeling artists (forcing them to use YOUR branding).
❌ Taking exorbitant commissions without adding value.
❌ Creating a culture of fear and dependency.
The Bottom Line: We’re calling for a shift back to community over competition. If an agency creates dependency through fear rather than providing actual value, it’s time to rethink the relationship.
That wraps up Season 3! We’re pausing briefly due to personal commitments but will be back before long.

Live Event Artists’ love language = Referrals 💌
With Vday right around the corner, let’s talk about a different kind of love: ✨community✨
When a client reaches out for a date you’re already booked for (like Vday, LNY, Mother’s Day, etc), don’t just say “no” or gatekeep the leads.
Instead, use these templates to ✨share the love✨ with your fellow artists.
Why this works:
💌 Zero gatekeeping: You’re helping your peer get paid
💌 Client trust: You look like a connected pro, not a competitor
💌 Abundance mindset: There is enough work for everyone
💌 Setting the standard: price anchoring stops the “race to the bottom” and ensures we all win

🤣 Ok jokes aside 👉🏻 when a request pushes past what’s realistic, the best response isn’t defensiveness — it’s 🫧CLARITY✨
These client discussions are your chance to show up as an expert, explain what is feasible, while protecting your craft, quality, and sanity.
Some flexibility is often possible but make sure you never get pushed to over-promise and ultimately be forced to under-deliver.
But… Can you relate though? 🤪

It’s almost Mother’s Day and it’s Telisa’s turn to share what it looks like behind the scenes on an on-site day.
Here’s a glimpse of what it looks like being a mom of 2 as a live event artist. What’s not shown here is the supporting full time wfh husband who solo parent when I’m working.
So I’m very thankful of his role.
His dream of being a stay at home dad came true 😆 (but he still has to work cuz this economy is 😬)
On another note, we’re dropping a new episode tmr. Let us know if you’re a mom and a live event artist too!
