Thank you so much to my amazing concrete-comrade Nora Dyrvik and Kulturrom for this deep dive into Bergen Kjøtt! And how we have worked to make it a more sustainable, accessible and inclusive cultural venue since 2019 🧡🏭🛠️ Huge props to Bergen Contemporary Art Project for their vision and investment in this empty old building in 2010 and imagining it could become a vibrant place for more than 100 musicians and creatives to work every day.⚡️ This article really means a lot. It has been six (quite tough 🤪) years of taking care of this building and community — and trying to keep at the centre of it all a commitment that we can embrace accessibility as an attitude, build inclusion into everything we do, and make the best decisions by learning and listening and valuing everyone’s work equally. Thank you everyone who has made and continues to make Bergen Kjøtt vibe! This is a gigantic team effort from everyone working, on the board, supporting us, in the studios, on stage, behind the scenes and answering our calls when we most need help⚡️🙌🏽🔥 We love to share what we are doing at Bergen Kjøtt so please get in touch 🧡 Read in full >>> https://kulturrom.no/2026/03/30/bergenkjott/ #BergenKjøtt #WhoAreWeAtBergenKjøtt #WhosDoingTheWashingUp

Today! Join us online with @cimam_museums as we share how GRIP is transforming the technical field behind the scenes in culture 🎛️⚡️ REPOST @cimam_museums Join us for the first CIMAM webinar of 2026, a conversation with the three museums practices recognised with the Outstanding Museum Practice Award (OMPA) 2025 during the CIMAM Annual Conference in Turin. 🔎”From Local Initiatives to Structural Transformation: Exemplary Modern and Contemporary Art Museum Practices.” 🗓 Monday 23 March 2026 🕒 13:00 (CEST) 💻 Online | Open access During this webinar, we will reflect on what makes a museum initiative transcend its local context and inspire structural change across the field of modern and contemporary art museums. Through the experiences of the three 2025 awarded institutions, we will explore questions such as: 👉🏽 How can museums move beyond participation towards genuine co-creation with communities? 👉🏽 What are the processes behind initiatives that can become models for others? If you are considering nominating your museum for the 2026 OMPA awards, or if you are interested in understanding how these practices were conceived and developed in response to the specificities of their communities and local contexts, join the conversation with the professionals who led them. 🎤 Speakers 🫴 María Eugenia Cordero, Director, Museo Barda del Desierto (Argentina) – Awarded practice: mBDD Architectural Project 🫴 Eva Rowson, Director, Bergen Kjøtt (Norway) – Awarded practice: GRIP 🫴 Amer Shomali, General Director, The Palestinian Museum (Palestine) – Awarded practice: Gaza Remains the Story The session will be moderated by Kamini Sawhney, CIMAM Board Member, Chair of the OMPA Program, and Artistic Director of the Public Arts Project (BLR Hubba). 👉 Register today and join the conversation. /rapid-response-webinars/httpswwwcimamorgrapid-response-webinarscimam-precedent-webinars2026-webinars/from-local-initiatives-to-structural-transformation/ CIMAM 2026 Webinars are made possible with the support of the Getty Foundation through its Connecting Professionals/Sharing Expertise initiative @gettymuseum

It feels a bit strange to have my big face in the newspaper like this. This time it’s not about Bergen Kjøtt or bankruptcy or building works or elevators catching fire but about my experience reaching burnout 3 years ago, and learning how to manage energy and expectations to find new ways of working - especially when taking a break feels impossible. 🛠️ Weightlifting is one of the things that has taught me a lot about how to understand rest as necessary, that it´s ok to show up as I feel, and the joy of finding an unexpected hobby and a new community beyond my job. Thanks to @tora__ggg & @kristianbruvik for holding me! 🙌🏽 Thank you to Marie Mundal in @bergensavisen for sharing and creating such a supportive interview space - kudos to you for putting a spotlight on this 💛 I hope this can be helpful for others going through similar stress. Burnout is not a failure. Take the symptoms seriously, and I´m here for you! 💕 Some snippets from the online article are here (translated into English) and it will be published in the paper this week. Including some really good advice from Ole Petter Hjelle @abel.health on stress and health. If you don´t have an abonnement for BA, just let me know and I´ll send it to you. 💞💞💞

Fredag 13.02. kl. 18- 19 Hvordan utløse potensialet i eksisterende bygg gjennom kultur? Medvirkende: Velkommen!     BAF_ Planer og fokus for året: Transformasjon.  V/ Leder Arvid Bjerkestrand 18:10- 18:20     Hvordan skape liv i gamle bygg gjennom kultur? Prosesser og tilskuddsmuligheter. Arkitekt Nora Dyrvik, Kulturrom 18:20- 18:30     Ingebrigt Ryland Røyrane – ROMMET 18:30- 18:40     Tord Træen - Smien 18:40- 18:50     Caroline Gullaksen – Valsemøllen 18:50- 19:00     Eva Rowson- Bergen Kjøtt 19:00- 19:10     Spørsmål: Hvordan kan vi sikre at flere utbyggere, eiendomsforvaltere og planleggere gir rom til kultur?  19:10-                  Fest!

#AdventuresInConcrete 2025 🛠️💫🪜 This year the adventures took us through replacing a massive steel beam to prevent the building falling down, filling cracks, painting accessibility, installing new ramps and accessible entrances, meeting the ghosts of our past, turning Fabrikkhallen on its head for @dennationalescene and becoming a national CONCRETE LEGEND 🏆 Thank you to the amazing crew at Bergen Kjøtt and all the workers who help us keep this building not only standing, but developing and shining a way forward for accessible and sustainable old buildings 🏗️💛🫶🏼 #AdventuresInConcrete #BergenKjøtt

Last weekend in Torino 🌟GRIP🌟 won the @cimam_museums Outstanding Museum Practice Award! In front of more than 300 museum professionals from across the world in gold second-hand sequins and a reminder that everyone’s work is equally important. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ For taking a sound system and making it work harder than just being the gear in another concert venue or museum - and using it to change the inequitable world of sound engineering. To technically-empower more than 250 people in sound engineering and double the number of cis-women and non-binary sound engineers working in Bergen! ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Huge admiration for my inspirational co-winners @palmuseum and @bardadeldesierto for doing such important work to re-invent the purpose of a museum to care of your lands, communities, heritage and futures. @amershomali & @mariaeugenia.cordero - you are amazing 🖤❤️🤍💚 Thank you to CIMAM! And @oca_norway who made it possible for me to be a part of CIMAM as a travel grantee last year 💛 GRIP is open to everyone - all genders and all ages above 18. BIGGEST admiration of our trainees who are becoming new role models and supporting each other in the process. ❤️‍🔥 And big thanks to our instructors and funders and collaborators who are making this happen. 🙏🏼 We are currently in the process of applying for funds to continue GRIP but watch this space for new courses (including lights!) coming next year! ❤️‍🔥 Photos: Giorgio Perottino / CIMAM #GRIP #HowToChangeTheWorldWithASoundSystem #CIMAM #OMPA #FreePalestine
