LA folks! I’m going to be hanging around University Park this weekend, slinging zines half a mile from my favorite old apartment (love you forever w 27th st 💕). I have a bunch of new stuff that I can’t wait for people to read! See you on Sunday! 😘

I love books. I love talking about them. I love recommending them. And I *especially* love when they’re historical romance novels! So starting in April, I’ll be sending out THE HISTORICAL REGISTER — a monthly newsletter of new and upcoming historical romance titles. In each edition you’ll get details for a handful of books (we are going *wide* within the subgenre) so you buy/borrow/pre-order the ones that strike you fancy! You can also expect the occasional in-depth recommendation, when there’s a book I really think you should read. 🔗 in the usual place! Got a favorite historical I should read?

They’ve had many names, but people have been making zine-like things for a long, long time! Putting your words and art on paper is powerful! There is never a bad time to make a zine, but now is a *particularly* good one. We need your zines! If you’ve got a zine you’re ready to share, @biggestlittlezinefair wants to see it 👀

Everything sucks & I want to do something! So… now what??? I made a zine about getting started in movement + justice work for the first time! These are things that were important for me to learn as a newbie, and things I’ve sometimes felt frustrated about with other people. It feels important to pass on what I can, like the seasoned organizers who have helped and educated me for many years! 🧡 If you want a paper copy, you can find it in the @biggestlittlezinefair zine library inside @recreationalcoffee right now! I included some local orgs to check out, but if you’re an organizer please chime in! (Especially if you’ve got actions and opportunities to participate coming up)

Times are hard but the poems are good. 🖤 We’re bringing together some excellent poets for their take on the end of days - the hard, the hopeful, and the zombies. Come hang in community; celebrate a new book; persist despite the horrors.

For the last several months we’ve been working on an anthology. It took a lot longer than we anticipated, but we’re so happy with the result. Queering the Apocalypse: Poems for the End of the World features work from 19 different poets, all bringing their take on the end of days. We have fire, flood, heartbreak, zombies, and more than a little hope for the future. Available in print now, with an ebook on the way. 🖇️ for copies, or request it at your local bookstore or library.

I’m Afraid of the Looking Glass. A little reflection on my irrational fear that I could be replaced by a doppelgänger and no one would notice. A version of this premise happens on many of my favorite shows (Fringe, Orphan Black, Buffy)—do I like these shows because this is something I think about, or do I think about it because I like these shows??? I made an early version of this for my #evanmakeszines zine-a-day challenge last November, but I gave it a refresh! I love the mirror version inside, which has slight design differences. If you’ve seen Fringe, you know that color is one of the ways they communicate alternate universes! #zines

Please join us for #LAPLZineClub on Zoom today at 4PM Pacific. Today's guests are Evan & Ra of Biggest Little Zine Fair! #BLZF They're going to be talking about how they got started and the sorts of things they do to keep running! "BLZF is a pop-up all-ages zine market where artists submit their work to be showcased and sold— no need to be there in person! Our small team of organizers runs the event, handling everything from setup to sales, and all proceeds (after credit card fees) go directly to the makers. Beyond the market, we also host free workshops and community events celebrating zine culture, fostering creativity, and bringing zinemakers together. BLZF celebrates unique, handmade zines that uplift diverse voices, social justice, local creators, niche interests, and DIY culture. We do not accept zines that promote hate, oppression, or discrimination. Our goal is to make publishing and selling easy, no matter your experience level." - / Please visit bit.ly/laplzineclub for the Zoom Link. /whats-on/events/la-zine-club-zoom

Teeny tiny zine earrings! These are 1/16th of a standard mini zine and (with good eyesight) readable! I’m making 2 other sizes, and we’ll see what people like best. 🧐
