Just a friendly reminder that none of us is perfect. Often the idea of perfection is actually what hinders our growth. We all fall off the workout or practice wagon, and when that happens: notice it and get back on it. That's the best path to your goal, the path of growth.
I strained my hamstring almost three weeks ago and was sitting at a heavier weight than I wanted. So I started fasting until I was comfortable getting back to the gym. Back at the gym now and already 9lbs down from where I was starting. Looking forward to dropping another 20 or so.

Being back as a guest artist has reminded me how lucky I was to be able to sing Hermann in queen of spades by tchaikovsky in my final year of my DMA at UT Austin.

After another 3 month residency in Sarasota, I am Happy and Sad. Happy that I met so many wonderful colleagues with tremendous vocal/ musical talents and good hearts. Sad that it must be over, and that our work is ephemeral. I am overwhelmed with gratitude that I was able to learn and perform my first Verdi role in front of a room of people that KNOW Verdi and love making text-committed opera. And as Manrico no less, oof!
I know VDR has always had a reputation rife with controversy, but he was the first industry professional to take a chance on me, and has been interested in helping me get closer to that golden era singer sound (something I've also wanted for myself), therefore I will always have a special place in my heart for that Verdi-loving-curmudgeon!!!
