#WEHADFUN October 22nd we celebrated the life of our mother @renecrosswashington 🕊. She was the most vibrant and beautiful woman I have ever known. She loved family, music and Mickey. With our only direction from her being "a big party"🎉 we took that as a challenge. 🙏🏾🙏🏾Thank you to everyone who contributed to that day. The beautiful venue @solabeehive , @amazinggraceconservatory & @iamwendyraquel . Thank you to my entire mother's village, all the AGC Mothers, our officiant Mr Jerrold Smith all of her porfessional circles, Brotherhood Crusade, Mr. Simeon Stewart, Vitality Furniture, LA Business Printing, BHERC and the JASPS Foundation. Thank you to @cw_heather.hutt and @repmaxinewaters for your council and words. Thank our vendors @soulfoodgyros + @souldelightful_ and our legendary caterers Des and Daria love you all. Thank you to Floral Vision the flowers and plants everywhere were amazing. Thank you to ALL of the volunteers to help us set all that up AND break it all down took a Herculean effort, and we did that. Our bar and valet services thank you too! 🤲🏾🤲🏾Thank you to all the artists that performed you all put the button on an evening that will forever live on in the hearts of our family. “NEMESIS” is here! I’m beyond proud and honored that we get to share this with everyone! Thank @netflix for seeing the vision. Thank you @courtneyakemp and @theblackscorsese for creating something so special and allowing me to contribute in the ways I did. Thank you to my sister @bigerinonset for holding it down and it’s amazing we were able to share this experience together, I know mom is sitting on heaven’s couch with popcorn in hand on episode 6 already lol. Thank you to our entire cast and crew all of these people are giants individually but collectively they came together to bring this idea to the screen. Seven years ago today the world lost the great activist, businessman and one of my favorite rappers of all time Nipsey Hussle. I was honored to be able to tell a small part of Nipsey’s story in my @forbes documentary series Rap Mentors. In this clip, Nipsey’s former manager, the legendary Steve Lobel @weworking speaks on working with Nipsey, how the music industry rejected him early on, and how important it is to give artists the love and respect they deserve while they are still alive. “Give people their roses while they’re alive.” This quote is so important and there are lots of life, art and business lessons in this clip and episode. Today the announcement was made! The TV project for Netflix created by the brilliant @courtneyakemp and my bruddah @theblackscorsese “NEMESIS” comes out May 14. This piece is particularly special for numerous reasons, but first on my list is that this was my first time ever being staffed on a network show as Staff Writer.
