Documenting the Marina Abramović takeover of Southbank Centre…
In October 2023, DRIFT had the privilege of cataloguing the 11 artists stationed across the entirety of the Queen Elizabeth Hall – backstage and all – for a set of enthralling (four-day-long) durational performances, curated by conceptual artist Marina Abramović and MAI.

The programme explored endurance, presence, and the evolving language of performance art - placing audiences in direct, unfiltered dialogue with the work.
The takeover culminated in an interview with Abramović, reflecting on her life in performance, the origins and evolution of the form, and what lies ahead for the next generation of artists.
Artists featured:
Collective Absentia, Carla Adra, Cassils, Paula Garcia, Miles Greenberg, Sandra Johnston, Carlos Martiel, Yiannis Pappas, Paul Setúbal, Aleksandar Timotic and Despina Zacharopoulou.
