It felt like a gift just to create something so universally personal together, and it’s something I consider a deep honor to be able to hand off to you all now. My dear friends, Hummingbird is yours this Friday. This tune has been such a journey, and it could never have happened without these friends like family. I feel honored to share something with you all that has the beautiful fingerprints of such wonderful people constituting its entirety. All of my favorite parts came from these humans. Every piece of this song came from human hands and instruments and I love that all the more considering what the music scene looks like these days. Check out the last slide for one of my recent encounters with a hummingbird. It flew straight up to me multiple times over the course of a couple minutes, and I had to catch a moment of it. These birds have been following me everywhere as of late. Feels fitting. Love you all. Can’t wait for this song to be in your hands. ❤️

My sister, @ainsleyrounds , designed and created the single cover for my new song, Hummingbird, completely by hand and I love it. Check out the process! It’s such a gift to be able to partner with and create alongside such amazing human artists, and it brings me so much joy that when anyone listens to this song they’ll see this work of art. Hummingbird is finished. While listening to the final mix, I went for a walk in the hills behind our home and enjoyed the new spring blooms. I’m so thankful for this song, which started its life around a year and a half ago right after we moved. I was processing so much about the shifting seasons of life, holding both joy and weariness in the same hand, and how to not lose myself and the awareness of the beauty of life in the rush of it all. I took my time writing this tune, with a line or melodic idea coming here or there, until it was finished a handful of months ago. Then, I got to get some of my closest friends in on it to play, sing, co-produce and craft something that we’re all proud of and can’t wait for you to hear. What a gift it is to learn, change, and create with such wonderful friends and family. Here’s some peaceful moments from that walk, and an instrumental version of the first bit of this tune that comes out on March 27th. I hope it brings you some rest and peace amidst a world of shifting tides. Love you.

“Love your neighbor as yourself” Verses keep popping up in my mind for this song, which is equal parts heart wearing as it is hope giving, as I’m reminded that change only comes from us living out the love we were made for. We’ve all got a choice. Love you all.

FOR LOVE OUT NOW ❤️ This song is in a lot of ways about being a part of a better tomorrow. To be a proponent of love in a world in such desperate need of it. At the end of the day, each of us was put on this planet to bring beauty, love and light in the only way each of us can. When we live in and for love, we truly become ALIVE. For Love is out tonight, 12 PM EST ❤️ I’ve said a lot about this song and its message, but before it’s out, I want to take a moment to thank the village that this doesn’t happen without. I’m beyond lucky to be able to create with people who aren’t only talented beyond description, but absolute gems of humanity. Each of them least fingerprints on this song that took it beyond what I could have dreamt of. @ainsleyrounds is crazy to partner with as an artist. To have known her throughout her whole life and to see her living out what she made to do is a gift enough - but to have it coincide with what I get to do is sweet beyond description. A true artist, through and through. @chando.dix is not only an astounding drummer and engineer, but a force of creativity, joy and the wild collaboration that cannot be described. Lucky to be a friend. @marcuspatterson_ is somebody I’ve known for YEARS. To be able to create with him is such a beautiful full circle experience. The man brings not only astounding bass, but a heavy peace wherever he goes. And is hilarious. A day 1. @paulyoonmusic is your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist. It goes without saying that his playing made so much of this song - but some of my favorite moments in this song came from his brain. Wise, jubilant, and an honor to live life alongside. What a friend. @imsammynoelle heard this song 3 years ago in its infancy. She encouraged it then, and throughout the process, and ended up shooting the music video as well on an old camcorder in a garage. Thank you for supporting both in word and action. @mixedbymichaelleto is a dear friend and fantastic mixing engineer. To have his hands on this is an instant elevation of all aspects of sound and experience. It makes me glad beyond words we continue to create. @sabroonds makes all of this happen. I wouldn’t be doing any of this if it wasn’t for her encouragement and support. Thank you for allowing me long nights out of the house to get this and the rest to come done. You and Gus are everything to me and you both inspire me daily to run after the callings on my life. Always know the most important one will be loving you two with all I have.

FOR LOVE OUT IN 2 DAYS ❤️ I tend to find myself worrying more these days - whether from the latest headline, national/global shift, or from the lack of communal good faith and love that seems to be slowly evaporating underneath the burn of pride and hate. I think this feeling of occasional dread has become all the more palpable since becoming a father. I want my son to know love and goodness as a normalcy, not as a rarity. It breaks my heart that hateful postures and actions have become both so normal and so public. At the same time, these publicized actions do bring a more constant and direct call on all of us to push back - to be a force of love in a hurting world. To be a light in the depths, know and reveal hope in the dread. This song has been a somewhat daily reminder to me for the last few years to live for and from love, in every circumstance. A love that yearns for peace and justice, solidarity and commonality, to see and know others and to bring them along into the rhythm of it all. We were all made to do that in our own specific way, I believe it’s the whole point to this side of forever. Love you all. Be some love and good today. ❤️
