34. Iceland, July 2022 🇮🇸. Explored Reykjavik and the surrounding areas. Highlights include meeting Icelandic horses, multiple tasting menus, golfing with amazing views, and sharing my love of travel with the next generation.
What’s this? Proof I passed my first figure skating test - pre-bronze moves in the field. How did we get here? Unclear. You’ll have to ask @toritutu , my insanely talented coach. She very quickly figured out how to coach me, which as it turns out initially involved subtly pushing me just enough past my comfort zone that I needed and wanted to practice outside class time. By the time I realized what she was doing, I was skating multiple days a week and I had already built so much confidence in my skating and her coaching that don’t think twice about trying anything she throws at me. She’s truly a gem and such an inspiring coach. 💕

The other keys to my success are the amazing friends and freestyle session buddies who have been on this learn to skate as an adult journey with me and @coach_jenn_nyc - who started me off on the fast track by taking me from Learn to Skate 1 through Learn to Skate 4 in just 12 classes, whose enthusiasm and love for skating definitely fueled my skating obsession, and whose constant reminders to breathe are so seared in my head that I actually do remember to breathe most of the time.
Had the best visit from the sweetest friends today, who even brought me my favorite Summerbird treats! Since we met almost a decade ago in Beijing, we’ve been to Shanghai, Palawan, Aarhus, Copenhagen, Moscow, D.C. and New York together and no matter where we are, @dasha_trunina and @anderssoeborg are the greatest company and manage to find the best restaurants and cocktails 💜
