A few weeks ago, On The Collision āWhere Sports And Politics Collideā we discussed an incident in DC where both MPR and Undercover Agents in unmarked cars jumped out on on Jamir Khalif @jamarikhalif in broad daylight while he was simply walking down the street minding his business. Many commented that they would like an update to what happened with this so I reached out to him personally and invited him to be one of our guests at the next live episode at Bus Boys And Poets, and he agreed
Chuck Modi @chuckmodi1 recently interviewed an amazing activist and community organizer Afeni @factsandfire and @fairbudgetdc after participating in a protest at 5am in front of Mayor Bowserās @mayor_bowser home, on why the recent budget proposal by Mayor Bowser @murielbowser is insufficient. From cuts in youth programming, housing, defunding of emergency rental assistance, health care complaints, the fact that 10% of all youth services are being cut in DC etc but Bowser proposes yet another increase in the police budget of 15%. It will be an honor to interview her live as well as Bus Boys And Poets this Thursday.
We will also be joined by two gifted young poets from PG County who I have had the pleasure of seeing perform recently and they are absolutely amazing.
This cat was in the same high school class of 2020 with Cade Cunningham and Evan Mobley, and heās already played professionally and overseas ? He has absolutely no business playing in college smh come on @ncaa what kind of sense does this make ?
During Mental Health Awareness Month, former NBA player and social justice activist Etan Thomas @etanthomas36 (and DMV resident š) shared a powerful moment ahead of āStrength Beyond The Gameā panel discussion at Bowie State University @bowiestateuniversity where he said he āalmost crashed outā on his coach.
The important takeaway was about emotional discipline, mental health, pressure, and protecting your future in difficult moments.
A conversation for athletes that honestly applies to all of us.
How do you handle moments that could cost you your future?

Itās amazing that so many people are still dismissing these Howard Students who booād Mayor Bowser @mayor_bowser and saying they donāt know what theyāre talking about. They have been through 4 years at one of the most prestigious HBCUās in the country. They have been educated in a way that differs from the education at a PWI. They are more well read and can recite facts and specific policy from Mayor Bowser than most adults. To write them off simply because of their age is very reminiscent of the elders who wanted to write off SNCC back in the Civil Rights era but it was Dr King who empowered them and supported them and encouraged them. The adults were all saying that they needed to fall in line with what they wanted and they didnāt understand because of their age. Amazing how much history repeats itself.
But ignore all of the naysayers and never forget who you are and keep that same fire and passion and willingness to stand up for what you believe in for the rest of your lives. No matter who you are standing up against. Much Respect šš¾ HU!!!!!!!!!!

It was great to have my former teammates at Syracuse Jason Hart and Ryan Blackwell on the Etan And Devo Show. We talked about their new coaching jobs, the different landscape of college basketball, NIL, transfer portal, expectations for Syracuse next year, the importance of bringing alumni back into the fold, we reminisced, and laughed like old times. It was great catching up with them. Rest in peace Winfred Walton šš¾š

This is Ms Donna, she is visiting her grandchildren in Philadelphia and she is from Connecticut. We had the best conversation. She heard Malcolm call me and we were coordinating picking up the girls from school and then meeting me at Bowie State for my panel and we just started talking about kids and her grandkids and how different the world is nowadays with social media and what kids are exposed to at an early ago and how her son always says she spoils her grandkids (which she admits she does) and how she canāt help it.
I told her how my Mom will just Cash App my kids money for no reason smh and how she used to help Malcolm take the garbage out because she said it was too much for him lol I told her how I had to mow the entire lawn with a push lawnmower in the hot Oklahoma heat in the middle of the summer and my Mom had zero sympathy for me lol we talked about Imani graduating and going to prom and one of her grandkids were getting ready for the same thing and I told her I was gonna sign up to be a chaperone for the prom and she got the biggest kick out of that. She said you better not do that to that girl lol Ms Donna was a really nice lady. Hope she enjoys her grandchildren in Philly.
Ran into Maryland Terp Royalty on the train Juan Dixon and Lonny Baxter. These cats were the truth. What Juan was able to do in college at his height. He was unstoppable. And all the people who Iām sure always told him he was too small but he proved them all wrong. I still think he should write a book.
I was teammates with Juan with the @washwizards and it was great catching up with him. We were talking about our kids playing and what we liked and donāt like about AAU, and the NCAA and how the rule should be you get 1 transfer, but if your coach gets fired or leaves, it doesnāt count against your one transfer, and how so many people donāt know that every year, coaches will tell a group of their team to go into the portal or that they are recruiting over them or they are not going to play the next year. It always amazes me how so many people donāt know that and just think itās always the players leaving.
But I told him how I always run into guys on the volleyball circuit and how funny it is how we are all doing the same thing running all over the country with our youth sports kids lol doing carpools and in charge of snacks on certain days lol was really great seeing them #fatherhood
