10 years of PersonA 🌞 PersonA came out of time of total reset for the band. Our parents dying, kids being born, we turned inward toward our past heartbreaks and precarious hopes. It’s a total departure from everything Edward Sharpe, but in many ways the most personal of the four Edward Sharpe studio albums. In the time between the release of our first album and PersonA, we had become a proper band – and so we decided to make an album as a band, in the same room, all at once, channeling everything we had picked up along the way. In a lot of ways I think it’s some of the best recording we’ve ever done. Hot Coles, Wake Up the Sun and Let It Down are among the best things I’ve ever recorded. “Somewhere” performed at SXSW 2015 in the Central Presbyterian Church in Austin, TX. Filmed by @gopro - watch the 360 video on YouTube.

In case you missed it, ESMZ’s Crash Richard (@crashdangdoodle ) released his incredible album ‘Sensitive Devil’ late last year. Streaming now and available on vinyl via @communitymusic The material for Sensitive Devil came to Crash while tracing his ancestry. Crash discovered his great-great-grandfather was born in Jamaica, met his future wife in Belize, and settled in Louisiana. “It made sense,” he says. “Of course this is the family that went from Jamaica to Belize to New Orleans and started over.” That legacy of fractured resilience echoes through the record’s reluctant beauty. The album was recorded with Kosta Galanopoulos in a modest home studio in Eagle Rock, a hillside neighborhood on LA’s east side. With a few trusted collaborators, Crash tracked vocals at odd hours, bounced mixes off bedroom walls, and leaned into imperfection. The result hums with intimacy, dust, and persistence.

"I'm a man on fire, walking down your street With one guitar, and two dancing feet Only one desire, that's left in me I want the whole damn world, To come dance with me" Bit of a longer clip today as I couldn't cut this down. This whole section as @alex_ebert comes down to the crowd is electric, a Man on Fire, singing a gospel of love and togetherness, Jade Castrinos and @esmzeros 's powerful accompaniment at his back, their ripple spreading out, visible in the raised and roiling hands of the people. /watch?v=HlsSo5U73lU Welcome to @exquisitesuchnesses , a page where I'll be posting moments in music (and maybe performance beyond) where artists touch God. Those gut-punching silver bullet moments where the tide parts and we are stopped in awe, the voice or instrument relinquishes and an artist becomes free, lost in something, where what we might call source is visible and pouring through. I wanted to start a collection of these delicious suchnesses. Give the page a follow if you want to see more. I welcome suggestions also if you have them, artists in the pocket, moving with something sublime, feel free to DM them to me. @imarobotofficial ’s long hidden album, Search and Destroy, is out today on @communitymusic ! Available to stream and on limited edition first 180g, translucent yellow, eco pressing courtesy of @goodneighboreco . Watch the new animated music video for Search and Destroy directed by @riffer_madness_jay Formed in the late 90s - before his worldwide recognition in @esmzeros - lead singer Alex Ebert (@alex_ebert ) along with guitarist Tim Anderson (@integratrim ), bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen (@justinmeldaljohnsen ), multi-instrumentalist Filip Nikolic (@turbotito ), multi-instrumentalist Oliver Goldstein(@oligee1 ), and drummers Joey Waronker (@joeywaronker ) and Scott Devours (@scottdevours ) forged Ima Robot within the contradiction of anarchy and intimacy. Originally recorded in the mid-2000s, Search and Destroy was an imprint of the Los Angeles underground: raw, urgent, and restless. For decades, the LP had existed only in fragments through shaky live clips, word of mouth, digital chatter, and memory. Originally unused demos for a later project, Search and Destroy was released on CD only in vanishingly small numbers by their friend Anne Lee Huffman’s DIY label Princehouse Records and was sold at a single show in 2003, against the wishes of their then label. Tracklist: Search and Destroy Tumbling Down Sing Boy Better Than Knife Hello I Love You Ima Alien Paint the Town Red Winter Fling Time Is The Cure
