I’ve been editioning the new version of ‘Dalmeny Birch’ today. I love this version. I remember feeling the Heinz-tomato-soup-red was too bold when I created that layer, so I lightened it up for the rest of the edition. Ugh. It’s my favourite obviously 😂
Unfortunately this one has a little messiness at the bottom, so not good enough for sale or open calls, but lucky for me, I can keep it!
I will be returning to this tree in future. I have captured it as the sun is setting on a summers eve. The light is amazing. So beautiful. So the experiments will continue!
Thank you to everyone for your interest in my birch prints. I have been delighted by your messages. Wonderful to see them disperse across the UK and beyond.

The development of ‘Dahlias on Hillside’ a new reduction linocut finished in time to debut at Hampstead Affordable Art Fair.
30 x 30cm reduction linocut using monoprinting techniques
Printed on Somerset satin
Inspired by a very beautiful collection of Dahlias growing on Hillside Gardens, Barnet last year.
I’m happy that this little reduction print is ready in time for Hampstead Affordable Art Fair. I have 2 others in the work for Hampstead so hope to share those soon.
Last summer, whilst ferrying to St Malo with the family, I had a beautiful moment of calm mesmerised by the stark cloud shadows on the water. So here it is, my new linocut ‘Shadows on the sea’ a 10x 10cm reduction linocut print formed of several layers of colour. This is a varied edition print which includes blue clouds or dusty pink.

I was delighted to visit @rbsagallery this weekend and see my reduction linocut Sunflowers hung amongst such a fantastic selection of prints.
Great to be hung so close to fellow @southbank_printmakers@morrispeg and @paulaboydbarrett_artist too!
Open for another 10 days and worth the visit.
Editioning new linocut ‘Erubesence’
15x15cm reduction linocut using traditional hessian backed Lino plate
Paper - selection of papers mainly @awagami_factory editioning pack
Ink - @cranfieldcolours safewash relief inks
This is a continuation of my new series exploring roots and ivy trying to bring more ‘intaglio-esque’ texture into my style of linocut. This exploration started with ‘There is light beyond’ which broke new ground in my practice.

I love this part. I’m onto the greens, the dahlias have emerged and the leaves are starting to appear.
Reduction linocut is simply the most satisfying print process EVER!
These dahlias are inspired by beautiful gardens up the road from my favourite birch tree, that is now no more.
Beautiful dahlias covered every patch possible along their drive so I knocked to ask to take photos. I was promptly invited in through the house to see the dahlias in the back garden and oh my goodness! How gorgeous
I’m very grateful for such a welcome and to meet this very skilled dahlia enthusiast.
I have 4-5 layers left and will share with more progress as it starts to come together.

Currently exhibiting with @northlondonprintmakers at Battersea Affordable Art Fair until Sunday at 6pm.
Great to meet and talk linocut with @reliefprint yesterday
I was very happy to meet like minded birch lovers and talk about the fate on my muse. My freedom of information request was returned today. It said “Bacterial slime was noted. The crown had 40% dieback with major deadwood and fungal fruiting bodies indicating decay.” I don’t know much about fungus but it sounds like this birch had its time.
I look forward to returning to the fair on Sunday. Maybe see you there!

Rather shocked and sad to find my favourite birch tree has been felled. I really missed it towering over me this morning and I know I’ll be sad every time I pass by where it once stood.
There are no other birches in Barnet that share its character, I’ve scoured the area for years trying to find a better tree.
I’m sad. I don’t know why it was killed. 5 trees were felled on the same street yesterday. Hope there was very good reason.

Absolutely delighted to have my linocut ‘Sunflowers’ selected for the RBSA Print Prize exhibition this year.
Alongside some of my favourite printmakers. Going to be a fantastic show.
The exhibition is on for a month so plenty of time to visit.

Some in progress close ups from a new linocut I’m working on
Created using multiblock with reduction technique.
A variation on my usual subject matter. I wanted to create a hybrid Collograph/ relief print but haven’t had chance to perfect this to my expectations. So due to deadlines I created the effect I wanted from Collograph using linocut reduction.
Definitely a new body of work coming from this experiment
