Teaching through principles even when there’s a pattern to learn. Something seemingly simple can have layers of complexity to it. Im not one to over-intellectualise movement, it doesn’t resonate with me. I’m a feeler.
I believe that we can LIVE in our movement in a multitude of ways in order to expand on our sensitivity, capacity, creativity, expression and adapt the qualities of how we move.
There are many ways to do things, many approaches and ideas.
Substance comes from experience and a deep sense of embodying something.
A good teacher should be an excellent student, and that sense of studentship (the self study, the play, having a mentor etc) is imperative.
I have some gifted and wise mentors in my life and I’m forever grateful to them.
Fancy wiggling with me in November?

You don’t need to be fixed FYI. That would imply that you’re broken.
‘Doing the work’ or constantly seeking healing can suck the joy of out things. Plus there’s no complete system of practice, everything has it gaps & flaws (and that is FINE!)
The overarching and common dialogue about ‘improving’ and one of the innate rhetorics within many fitness/wellness circles is the presumption that people need to be ‘fixed’.
People don’t need fixing, that’s very tactical language that creates a hierarchy between student and teacher and there’s a power play that makes the student assume there is something ‘wrong’ with them that only the teacher can fix.
Hence making money and this also is how cultish behaviour can ensue and codependency on ideologies and ‘leaders/teachers’. The weaponisation of vulnerability en masse and potential profiteering from people who have been told they need to be fixed is a bit gross. We are still only just getting to grips with an understanding of our incredible bodies - they’re an amazing feat of evolution and not problematic so ask yourself what you really wanna believe about yourself…
More brain dumps. Ok byeeeee

Playfulness is at the heart of everything we do, and there’s nothing we enjoy more than playing together.
Our MVMT.Skills Quest works just like a board game. The goal is to follow and complete the track designed by our team, box by box. Each box includes a skill or a fun task to complete, with some nice prizes to win along the way. The game will run over the next 10 weeks, and you can find more details on how it works on the product page.
This is an invitation to build skills across our practices, spend time together, and have some fun!
To join, pay the 25€ entry fee via the link in bio and pick up your game card at reception.
Let’s play!
Pole dancing has been one of my hobbies for just over 2 years now. Every time I train, I’m reminded of the artistry of the body. I feel that in my movement practice too, but there’s something extra zesty in the expression of pole that really brings me to life.
Never underestimate how hard it is to make something look beautiful when you’re on a spinning metal pole in mid air! I’ve not been as consistent as I’d love to be with training. I wish I could do it multiple times a week and really cultivate a practice that I’ve come to cherish and respect so much.
And mostly I love the pole community & how celebratory it is. We constantly big each other up and it’s a beautiful thing, I’m very grateful for it.
Just some pole loooooove for the grid 🥰

Flow by @reggyns in the pole temple @slinkstudio
A flexibility practice and physical yoga (asana) practice are not the same thing in my world. Nowadays I practice and train flexibility specific exercises. My physical yoga practice sits mostly in the world of yin, restorative, subtlety and a sprinkle of vinyasa at times. My overall practice has become much more rooted in my inner world and deeply personal to me. Most of it goes unseen and happens in my quiet time. It’s for me & whatever my present circumstances are.
I respect asana, I respect the potency of an intelligently sequenced flow & the occasional steady discipline of the familiar sun salutations… but that rigorous physicality is simply not my yoga world at this moment. That could change again, who knows.
It’s not because I don’t love the practice, the practice will always be there. It’s that I fell out of love with everything surrounding the modern (western!!) yoga world too. All the baggage like ‘who’s popular on IG’, brand stuff, associations, clout chasing, competition… blah blah blah. And the thing is, under most of this people are mostly trying to do their best and share something they love so much! It’s nuanced.
I realised years ago that people were equating my physical abilities to being a good teacher, and to being experienced, which I wasn’t as much then (still feel like I a beginner teacher). Anyway, It didn’t sit right with me but I played the game a bit, because you have to hustle in London/ this wellness world - forget that ‘love & light’ bypassing crap when your rent is £1k a month in London mate.
It felt jilted after a while though and thankfully I branched out early and became a student of 2736362 other things & added other strings to my teaching bow. Maybe that was a way of me finding what felt sacred again in my practice and gave me the space to bring it home to myself, I’m not sure…
I love love love what my body can do, it’s so much fun and I do not take it for granted but it really isn’t everything. It’s not the core of who I am.
And Im not sure where I’m going with this so I’ll end the thought here, carry it on if you want….

At MVMT Studio, we invite you not only to build and refine your skills through repetition, but also to broaden your scope and explore different practices, textures, and ways of moving; all feeding into the same thing: your body’s capacity to move and adapt.
Come for something familiar.
Stay for something new.
Highlights from a beautiful weekend teaching for @arashi.collective in Vienna!
It was such a pleasure to share my approach and experience in this eclectic world of ‘mixed movement’.
It was a challenge to distill it all down into 6 hours but by the end, we were all moving and grooving in our own way.
Thank you for hosting me & thank you to everyone who came with such an open heart, some reallyyyy good questions that tickled our brains, & for your playful, curious attitude.
Sometimes we can get all serious and intellectualise what we do which can sort of strip the fun out it, so my bottom line is pretty much always: ENJOY yourself.
It’s a such a privilege to get to explore movement in this way.
(& for those who often ask… yes a LOT of this stuff comes from capoeira and I always refer to it, the same goes for contemporary dance)
