A short story!
Collaboration is the key…I’ll tell why
I’ve had hundreds of congratulatory messages since last night when our film BECKMA won the Best Nigerian Film at the biggest film festival in Africa.
@afriff
I kept on telling my colleagues that I’m not surprised that the film won “Best Nigerian Film” I was happy of course, any one would be but I knew from start that “BECKMA” is the best film that’ll hit Nigerian screen in 2022 when director pitched the idea to us and this is what this award represents.
This story speak of the ills and atrocities perpetuated by group of people under the shadow of a demonic culture. The issues of early marriage, girl child education, female genital mutilation is a threat to hamper the dream of the girl child.
About collaboration, yes you need money to shoot a movie but to find people that’ll take that project beyond your imagination, work tirelessly, put their 12,000 percent, sacrifice their nights, endure a freezing weather for weeks is very important.
This was beyond pay check for us but the vision.
@bestokoduwa_ has always been a visionary leader, not a director that’ll come on set to scream the ACTION word like many do..He sold this dream to us and we took it upon ourselves to make this film what it is today.
If you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships. Micheal Jordan
Producers and Directors, please think of a family when embarking on a project, think of kind people when hiring cast and crew, sell your idea, treat them well and allow them to roll with it, you’ll be amazed at the success of your project.
You need money, you also need a FAMILY.
This is my first award of the year as a film editor, colourist and second camera unit, God did it! BECKMA did it…I’m grateful.
