Seminary Red. Planted some years ago by @benfordlepley from a cutting of a tree we discovered on the North Shore of Long Island. Maybe on M111 (?) rootstock. Part of our goal with @floralterranes is to find fruit and native trees here on Long Island to propagate, maintain and preserve the ecosystem in which these trees have survived over time. Each plant we have saved has become apart of our landscape to plant and nurture for the future. @benfordlepley has truly been the catalyst for this. Thank you @benfordlepley ❤️

Lawrence. “Lunatic” said @alanmcgee93 in this interview from 1989 because Lawrence is a genius. “Me And A Monkey on a Moon” came out in 1989. That lp is one of the most underrated and beautiful records that still holds a place 26 years later. Don’t say I never did you a favor. @mozart.estate

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 A passage from my youth I’ll never forget in spite of loss.

Finally nailed it today. Pizza is so nuanced and a delicate dance. My hopes is that the new year I keep practicing to get better and more focused. If you feel like things aren’t great, try to focus on at what you do ok and make it better. It’s wild out there, just trying to get better and stay disciplined

@mikefromfilthmart @filthmarfa took me in many years ago most likely around 1999/2000 when he had his first shop in the East Village (1997?!). My girlfriend and current wife had a apartment around the block from the shop. I would skip classes at SUNY Purchase to be with her, park my car wherever I could find a spot and walk to Filth Mart. One day I found my car ignition wires eaten by rats a block away from Filth Mart. That’s how filthy it was then and probably today. NYC is still filthy! Everyday I was in the city and when I had nothing to do; I’d often walk around until I found a “home” for day. Filth Mart gave me a home. Mike and whoever was working there at the time would always be so kind to me (even when I had no money) and talk to me about vintage clothing. The profound impact they had on me cannot be explained. Years later I met @silversaturation and we both took to finding and researching vintage clothing so deep. We were preserving the past and future by contacting so many clothiers to get their story and information so we could possibly share it at some point, maybe write a coffee table book; that was our dream. Mike was also doing the same from the moment he opened his shop. God bless you Michael at @mikefromfilthmart because you…you were a catalyst for my interest in preservation. I will never forget our time at Bar 168 dancing to ELO “Do Ya” one crazy night in NYC together with his wife. He made me think and appreciate clothes, music and life. Bless you Mike and your beautiful family

My friend @pfgranger has been earnestly working on going through his personal photography and ephemera archives for sometime now to capture a period of time that our energy was embodied and encapsulated on attending and being present at shows in real time before the general advent of technology. This period of time reflected sense of place when you had just a camera, yourself, your friends and a drive to go and support people who’s music you heard through mix tapes or ‘zines you collected. Rarely this type of music was played on college radio (although that changed after time). Chances are the “promoters” would be just kids just calling a direct phone line out of a phone book (or the phone number listed in a ‘zine) to a band they liked, to arrange a spot for the band to play. You’d just see a flyer someone made that looked pretty cool and you’d attend even if you didn’t know any of the bands that were playing. Being a kid from Long Island born in 1980, we were fortunate enough to be able to be in high school in the early 1990s and experience backyard and house shows (none of which I really attended to regularly). I met some really good people like @hortivulture @antonio.leiriao @myleskarr_sluglife and so many other people who took me in. Grateful to those friends to today. I met @pfgranger at some show many years ago because he used to sell all the best 7”s at shows (I was broke and could never afford to get one). Years later he lived down the street from us in Brooklyn. My wife and I used to visit on many occasions when we had get togethers as friends for dinners. Paul always kept his lps and 7”s from that time period. We’d joke about those moments of time many years later. Thank you @pfgranger for being so supportive and taking me in. You are a wonderful friend and keep on doing what you’re doing; preserving the past for the present and future

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the many years and believed in our capacity to represent a region that has huge potential - Long Island. Everyone has over the many years contributed to the work we have done and we cannot have done it without you all. The support has been endless; from the humble beginnings to the humble present times. Thank you to @vomboden for being there for us at the start. We never thought we’d make it past a few years but we kept on doing the work. We’re still learning as two people who never travelled, never did a harvest and rarely leave Long Island. It’s a blessing but a HUGE THANK YOU to the amazing team at @bowlerwine who gave us a chance to grow together and believed in us at the beginning too. Thank you to the entire @bowlerwine team for having us at the office today as we prepare for the 2024 vintage. We’re very excited to share these new wines and ciders with you all. Huge thanks to @benfordlepley ❤️
