I took the last two measures of my piece All Seems Beautiful to Me (performed by the incomparable @voces8 ) and slowed it 800%. I love the way the “shhh” of “shall” sounds, and the resolution to the second measure makes me melt.

It is with the heaviest heart that I join thousands of musicians, family, and friends in mourning the sudden passing of John Byun. John was an extraordinary conductor, beloved by his singers, a huge-hearted artist who brought joy and authenticity to every moment of music he made.
He was also one of the world’s purest people, soulful and genuine, exuberant. I was so lucky to call him my friend and colleague for the past 25 years.
Thank you John, for everything you gave to us. What a beautiful life you lived.
Playing the @somasynths_us Terra is like painting with colors that you didn’t know existed. Just like the Lyra-8, I feel an almost mystical connection with this beautiful instrument.

Last month at SXSW we premiered the newly enhanced Deep Field film. It features augmented images from The Hubble Telescope; graphics and film by @59dotstudio ; music and narration by yours truly; and Virtual Choir 5, with over 8000 singers from 101 countries.
Joining me onstage following the film was visualization scientist Dr. Kimberly Arcand (@kimberlycowall ), and Dr. John Grunsfeld, astronaut. It was a gorgeous screening and thoughtful discussion, filled with wonder, awe, and optimism.
