New composition for new time…drawn from the timeless. Born from a challenge by @ericrweinstein to take this great traditional Sindhi Sufi Islamic folk song and adopt it into a modern jazz fusion context, I composed and have been performing this arrangement with my band Spirit Fingers at our shows across the US and UK. The first few clips are from our sold-out London shows at @thejazzcafe and @jazzrefreshed with @lox_drumz@benglassermusic and @mattmayonbass , and the last one is the studio version with the US-based all-stars that make up the original Spirit Fingers ensemble @hadrienferaud@blaquedynamite and @dariochiazzolino .
We have some fun plans for this arrangement, but thought I’d share it with you in its current state as we workshop it around the globe. Stay tuned for something epic coming soon.
