I was lucky enough to get to meet and be interviewed by the great Sam Rubin a few times over the years. Here is my favorite though. Meeting Sam was such a thrill because he was Hollywood. He was smart, fast, positive, and funny. When he called me the “best dressed Zoom guest” was such a huge compliment. (Check out @theportlygentleman ) Sam was also on WGN as I grew up in Chicago. He has always just seemed to be there. An anchor to Hollywood. He will be missed and I’m glad I got to share even a few moments with this legend. Prayers to his family and friends. Happy Mother’s Day to my amazing wife Lisa. She is the rock of our family. She inspires me daily with her approach to life and the way that she greets the world with joy, patience, positivity and laughter. She’s the best Mom to our kiddos and they are so blessed to have her as their Mommy.
I had the best time being a Judge again this year for the Jerry Herman Awards which celebrate excellence in High School Theatre in Los Angeles. The winners go on to compete in the National Jimmy Awards! (a very big deal) I just want to congratulate ALL the nominated students, their schools, their shows, their teachers, and parents for an amazing year of theatre in Los Angeles. There are so many talented kids well on their way to amazing careers and we are always so joyful to celebrate them. Congrats to this year’s winners @jacksonchasewright and @kaleoknight !! Break legs at the @jimmyawards !! This is the perfect video to describe how amazing each crew member was on our set. Not because of their skill (which also happened to be excellent in every way) but because of their hearts, because of the JOY they brought each day.

This 10th day of our shoot it happened to be our director @ericpete ’s sons birthday (Miles), and we had no idea until that morning that he had made that sacrifice to be on our set. As parents we know that missing birthdays is a BIG deal, and we are so thankful to his sweet family (@thelisamorabito and kids) for lending him to us for this project!
