I’m a bit behind on the social media selfish pimp posts….. Kiki & Herb were just in London for Pride and used this image for the poster, which was originally taken for BAM when we were emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. It was a giant cut-out in the theater. Hilarious, and I loved it.  Reposted from Viv:  “Check out these old chestnuts from @sohotheatre . When you’ve kept the receipts…because you knew, YOU knew deep, wayyyy deep down that New York cabaret legends Kiki & Herb would crash-land back into London once again. So what if it’s 17 years between the chaos, carnage, and cabaret, we’re still not over it. Scroll & you’ll see why. 3 nights only in our ‘jaw-dropping’ new venue. See you at the piano, darlings x” #kikiandherb #pride #cabaret #ericmcnatt

On Friday, February 28th, at 10:03 am (CT), my father, Randy Mathews McNatt, passed away due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was surrounded by loved ones and departed peacefully at the home of his daughter, Micah Sealy, with her family by his side. He was 81 years old. Randy was born in San Antonio, TX, to Glen McNatt and Helen Kothman in late July 1943. The family later moved to Abilene, where his younger brother, Logan McNatt, was born in 1950. In October 1957, they relocated to Brownwood, TX, where Glen (my grandfather) opened the first Social Security Administration office. Randy grew up in Brownwood, finding his group in high school while playing saxophone in the band and excelling at tennis. During this time, he also developed a deep love for the outdoors, where he spent time hunting and fishing with his uncles and cousins on the old Kothman Ranch in East Texas. There, he discovered his true passion, fish and wildlife, which he nurtured into a long career as a marine biologist and environmentalist. My father was a brilliant man and dedicated his life to environmental conservation and science. After completing his doctorate, he moved to Albuquerque in June 1978 for a position at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. After three years there, he took a research position in Vernal, UT, conducting population studies of rare native fishes in the Green and Yampa Rivers. In 1983, he moved to Reno, NV, for a position with the Endangered Species Office of the USFWS, and in 1993, he accepted a position at the Bureau of Land Management as the Nevada State Program Lead for Fisheries, Endangered Species, and Wetlands. He remained in the position until he retired in January of 2005. I’m so thankful he’s not here to witness the dismantling of all the work he and his colleagues did to protect the earth. He would be furious and outspoken about Musk’s actions to undermine our National Parks and natural resources. Trump represents everything my father opposed. I love you, Dad. I wish I had told you more often and in person.

I recommend this show… It’s so great. @wildprojectnyc . PRESENTS. B*TCHCRAFT February 7th-March 1, 2025 Thursdays- Sundays 7:00pm Monday, February 17th and Monday, February 24th 7:00pm Featuring @bitchmusic With Francesca , Cary Curran and Donovan Fowler. And the voices of Seth Bodie, Ian Brownell, Amy Goldfarb, Ron Goldman, Jenna S. Hill, Mal Malme, Faith Soloway, and Margie Zohn B*TCHCRAFT: A Musical Play, tells the story of how a quiet child from suburban Detroit became the queer icon and beloved musical artist Bitch (Bitch and Animal, Kill Rock Stars, Shortbus). Through her touching, incisive and often funny autobiographical story, we follow Bitch’s journey from third daughter of frustrated British ex-pat artists, to feminist warrior and acclaimed performance artist. The show is a wild musical broomstick ride through Bitch’s childhood, feminist awakening, indie rock stardom and subsequent brush with cancel-culture. A dynamic electric violin-laced pop treatise on patriarchy, self-actualization and triumph, B*TCHCRAFT will have you dancing in the aisles and inspired to brew your own bitchcraft in a world that needs it now more than ever. Conceived by Bitch and Margie Zohn Book by Bitch and Margie Zohn Music and Lyrics by Bitch with Additional Music and Lyrics by Faith Soloway, Bitch & Animal, Melissa York, Jon Hyman and Greg Prestopino Director Margie Zohn Producer wild project and Laura Vogel Stage Manager Richard Paul Scenic and Props Design Samantha Tutasi Lighting Design Amina Alexander Costume Design Andrea Lauer Sound Design Sean Hagerty Projection Design Brian Pacelli Choreographer Michelle Dorrance Sound Engineer Gregory Kostroff Associate Costume Design Dusty Childers Associate Sound Design Peter Brucker Associate Projection Design Clare Talbott Track Production Bog Berries Track Mixing Jon Hyman Music Consultant Anne Preven Photo @ericmcnatt

I will be giving a talk about my work for the first time in a long while, next Tuesday, Sept 10th, as part of the SVA Masters Program. It is happening on the same night as Viv’s show at Joe’s Pub and Linda Simpson’s book launch, but I hope some of you can attend. The event is open to the public. Link in Bio.

I lost a dear friend last week, Steve Harris. He was a prominent figure here in Brownwood, TX. To me, he was a HERO and exemplified the sense of duty and activism we should all strive for. While most of my friends express their activism in safe, progressive areas, @cookinsteve fought his battles in the challenging environment of Southern Baptist Central Texas, also known as the “Buckle of the Bible Belt.” He was resilient and unwavering in his fight for justice. I will miss his laughter and the larger-than-life stories that always captivated the room. My thoughts are with all my LGBTQ+ friends and allies here in TX, and especially with Steve Puckett, his husband for over 30 years. This image was taken in August of 2008, when I first met them both. #fuckcancer #alifeofactivism #brownwoodtx
