I’ll be presenting around ten denim pieces from my collection, and Spencer will also bring garments from his own archive.

AVANT founder and heritage fashion authority Eric Maggiori joins denim aficionado Spencer Barksdale for a conversation on one of the most misunderstood fabrics in the history of clothing.
From the mines of California to the runways of Paris, denim has always lived in contrast: labor and rebellion, utility and beauty, belonging and individuality.
To anchor the evening, Eric will share ten remarkable pieces from his personal archive, spanning the early 1900s to mid-century America, each faded, mended, and alive with use. Spencer will also bring selections from his own archive, offering modern interpretations of denim’s historical elements through fabric, wash, design, and upcycled imagination.

In the new issue of AVANT, Eric Maggiori’s Collection, Volume 2, I’ve introduced something that’s never really been done before in a book about vintage clothing: QR codes linked to videos.
In a world that’s becoming increasingly digital, where video plays such a big role, I thought it would be interesting to create a bridge between print and digital.
So alongside writing the book and shooting the photos, I also filmed more than 40 videos, over two hours of exclusive content to go with the book.
Next to each garment, you’ll find a QR code. Scan it, and you’ll be taken to a video where I walk you through the piece in detail, with close-ups and additional stories. I hope you’ll enjoy it !!

I’m super happy to announce to release of a new special issue of @theavantmag : Eric Maggiori’s Collection Volume 2. You can pre-order it now on theavantmag.com .
Back in 2021, I released my first book on my collection, limited to just 1,000 copies, and it sold out in only a few months. At the time, I promised I wouldn’t reprint it, which makes it a true collector’s item today.
But… nothing was stopping me from making a Volume 2 !!
So here it is : my last five years of collecting, brought together in a single volume featuring American workwear, militaria, French workwear, Stifel, and, for the first time, vintage T-shirts and football jerseys.
For each garment, I share the story of the piece and the history of the brand behind it. And thanks to a unique QR code system, you’ll also get access to a video where I walk you through the garment in detail. In total: nearly two hours of video content to accompany the book.
Three other renowned collectors @hashimoto.dean@denim_seeker@longjohn_denimblog have also agreed to share five pieces from their collections.
You can now pre-order the book on theavantmag.com, either the book on its own or the premium pack, which also includes five postcard-sized watercolor prints featuring pieces from my collection, specially created by @make.art.notwar , who also designed the cover.

Yeah, I definitely have a soft spot for buckle backs. I just think it’s a really beautiful detail on vintage work pants.
