Vintage Late 1930’s Early 1940’s Montgomery Wards Chamois Half Zip Pullover. (Near Mint)
This has been, and is, part of our personal collection. We rarely photograph NFS items, but figured we’d share one of our favorites. Enjoy.
Vintage 1940’s Sun Valley Cotton Flannel. (Emerald Buffalo)
Excellent Condition in Heavy “Winter” Weight Cotton.
Story time.
So those of you out there who know us, know about our cotton flannel collection and our ongoing research of them for the sake of a book we are writing. Sun Valley is among our favorites, and this emerald green buffalo check pattern is among the rarest and most elusive colorways to find. We located one about a year ago, but the cards didn’t line up. We hunted and hunted, haunted and hounded, but to no avail. Then, one day last week, a random message comes through on IG from California. We open it up to reveal the images, and a question about value. We instantly messaged back. Turns out, this flannel was found at a simple yard sale for around $3 dollars I believe, with some other fishing gear from the grandfather of the homestead. The young man who bought it, searched the label and we came up in his feed, so he reached out to get our advice. We paid handsomely, and is now part of our archival collection.
Vintage 1950’s BVD Single Square Pocket Tee. (Rare PB28 Color)
Good enough for “GQ Gosling,” good enough for us.
The original one seen in the photo was sold by our good friend in NYC—with a point pocket detail instead of a square pocket—a little over 2 years ago. We’ve often been inspired by her eye and knowledge in the game, and since the report of its sale, we have been on the hunt for this extremely rare color. It took us a little over 2 years and 4 months of searching to find this color in the wild. Search over.
Be Good,
Grayford’s
Somewhere on the northern side of New Jersey, sits a time machine to the past: Grayford’s. Some may say it’s a shop, while many may argue it’s a museum. But it’s true that every single person who enters, steps into a world of historical treasure. Brad, the owner of Grayfords, opened the vintage shop in efforts of honoring the heritage of his parents. Every piece he curates holds a unique story told through various generations of war, labor and cultural experiences.
