“In its completed state, “Walls Wearing Worlds” is a condensation of the exuberant energy that went into its making. The elements of the installation are poised and perfectly proportioned. Fabric hangings are just big enough to feel substantial and transformative while allowing viewers to see the underlying walls, floor, and ceiling. Like a talented couturier whose instinct dictates how long the skirt must be, Leeza’s keen sense for scale relationships is evident throughout the installation. Especially in the spaces between the numerous elements of the installation, in which Leeza hangs three of her paintings. Through the inclusion of these works, she asserts her identity as a painter and declares her commitment to the medium. A close look at the surface reveals a mix of media and approaches that speak to a boundless appetite for materials. The result is a microcosm of the rampant extroversion on display in her site-specific elements. Her paintings are not dependent on the context of her installation. They succeed on their own terms.”
