Good Grief
May 9 - June 27, 2026
6019 56th Road
Mrs. is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work by Kate Barbee in our satellite space, marking the artistโs first presentation with the gallery.
This body of work deepens Barbeeโs engagement with surface, texture, and time. Developed through cycles of painting, cutting, sewing, and reconstruction, the works carry visible histories; earlier compositions buried, disrupted, and reassembled. Canvas is pierced and stitched, fragments of fabric emerge and recede, and layers of paint are applied, removed, and reworked. The resulting surfaces verge on the sculptural, emphasizing process as both accumulation and revision.

โFire Island Sun,โ Chris Bogiaโs third solo exhibition at the gallery, opens tomorrow from 4-7pm at 6040 56th Drive.
Anchoring the exhibition is a six-foot mandala composed of yarn and lacquered wood. Rendered in vibrant oranges and pinks with green and blue accents, the work radiates outward, evoking both the physical presence of the sun and its symbolic resonance. This motif reappears in various forms throughout Bogiaโs work, much like the sun on the horizon that remains constant to the viewer.

Greater New York 2026
April 16 - August 17, 2026
MoMA PS1
Queens, NY
Mrs. is pleased to announce gallery artist Nickola Pottingerโs inclusion in Greater New York 2026 at MoMA PS1. Pottinger will present three new sculptures for PS1โs annual survey, opening Thursday, April 16, 2026.
โOur signature survey of artists living and working in the New York City area returns for its sixth edition this spring, coinciding with MoMA PS1โs 50th anniversary. Spanning two floors of the museum, Greater New York 2026 brings into focus over 50 multidisciplinary artists in the formative years of their careers. This highly anticipated iteration will encompass site-specific commissions, new productions, and performances, alongside important recent works that address todayโs most urgent cultural concerns. Organized for the first time by MoMA PS1โs full curatorial team, the exhibition emphasizes the forces that shape daily life in the city today, as well as strategies of resistance and adaptation in the face of increased surveillance, economic precarity, and shifting technologies. Greater New York 2026 registers an optimism and anxiety generated through artistsโ attention to the layered, lived textures of New York City.'

NADA New York is open now through Sunday at the Starrett-Lehigh Building in Chelsea.
Find us at Booth B11 where we are presenting works by Kate Barbee, Meghan Brady, Susan Classen Sullivan, and Nickola Pottinger.
This presentation highlights four individual practices united by a focus on layering, accumulation, and transformative processes. Spanning sculpture and painting, the participating artists employ additive techniques to build their compositions, integrating images, materials, and references over time. Each body of work emerges from a dialogue between personal experience and broader cultural frameworks.

Using handmade paper pulp, salvaged materials, and fragments of earlier works, Nickola Pottinger constructs richly textured forms that merge elements of drawing, collage, and object-making. Her process is defined by a continual interplay of building and removal, with surfaces that simultaneously conceal and reveal.

Working primarily in ceramic sculpture, Susan Classen Sullivan explores systems of growth, decay, and renewal through an equally iterative process. Her forms reference organic structures and unseen networks, built up through careful layering and material sensitivity. The resulting works evoke quiet, internal processes shaped by both environment and time.

Integrating hand embroidery with mixed media painting, collage, and drawing, Kate Barbee maintains an interdisciplinary approach. She constructs densely layered compositions through cycles of revision and rebuilding, allowing figures to surface from tactile, vibrant foundations of thread, paint, and fabric. These intuitive works are guided by a balance of material exploration and emotional immediacy.

Please join us today from 4-7pm for the opening reception of โGood Grief,โ a solo exhibition of new work by Kate Barbee in our satellite space, marking the artistโs first presentation with the gallery.
Barbeeโs compositions reflect a range of influences, from early modernist ornamentation to symbolic abstraction and textile-based practices. Through stitched motifs, fragmented scenes, and shifting perspectives, the works assemble moments into visual โtime stamps,โ mapping emotional and spatial experience across layered surfaces. A sustained emphasis on texture unifies otherwise varied palettes and compositions, marking a shift from her earlier, more atmospheric paint handling.

Mrs. is pleased to present โFire Island Sun,โ Queens-based artist Chris Bogiaโs third solo exhibition with the gallery. As its title suggests, the exhibition centers on Bogiaโs longstanding relationship with Fire Island, exploring its landscape, architecture, and cultural history through a material language that brings together both familiar and newly developed techniques.
Fire Island has been central to Bogiaโs practice for over fifteen years, notably through his role as co-founder of the Fire Island Artist Residency, the first LGBTQ+ residency of its kind. โFire Island Sunโ marks the first time the artist has brought the island to the forefront of his studio practice, translating years of socially engaged work into a deeply personal body of new sculptural objects.
