And so it begins, a new chapter with a new boat. We are so excited we just took delivery of our new @rangertugs R23 today. We decked this boat out to the max with all the best options, the biggest of which is the @seakeeper.ride system which is a game changer for small fast boats like this. Air con, heat, hot water, starlink, autopilot, Of course full @garminmarine everything… Yamaha motor… can’t wait to take her to the islands. This summer is going to be epic
Peeking through the teeth. Cave diving in the Dominican Republic. This was my first visit to the DR and their more off the beaten path caves. It did not disappoint! #cavediving #scuba
After 3 months of driving to Ventura every Sunday our boat is finally back on the water! Huge thanks to all the friends who jumped in to help!! We’ve updated or replaced so much. Fought with gremlin’s and battled a giant motor shoved into a small boat! lol. Cruising out of the marina at a whopping 25 knots was so gratifying! Andy I didn’t need to get towed back this time..
AI vs REAL..
I had to create a photo to promote my Cine Gear booth.. I had the chance to test AI against the real thing and thought I would share it. I knew in advance what I wanted to shoot and I had references from past photos I have taken. I used mid journey to create a full AI based image promtpting it with a fairly descriptive idea using the same language I was basically telling myself as direction for the real photo. PHOTO #1 - this is the real photo I took using my RED Raptor with a 20mm Tribe 7 Blackwing. I lit using RGB lights we have in the shop (all our lighting is RGB Philips) and used a hazer for texture. The image is not color graded other then a REC709 lookup and no additonal cleanup, color grade or any other work was performed its basicaly out of camera as I shot it. PHOTO #2 this is the AI rendition of the reference photo and my prompt. PHOTO #3 this was my reference photo. My prompt was to better describe the camera angle, colors to be used and the props in the scene as well as the atmosphere and overall texture. This was eye opening as I really think this showcases how far off AI still is and puts a major emphasis on how good we humans actually are.. While I think AI can and will be more powerful in the future, its a new tool in an ever expanding tool belt for creators to tell stories. Embrace and learn to manipulate it the same way we do with everything in our industry..
As many of you know I’ve spent many years behind the scenes at trade shows like cine gear and NAB supporting other brands. Many a NAB I can be seen running from booth to booth trading parts and favors to solve problems at another vendors booth. This year marked the first time I’ve had my own booth for my own companies. It was a huge undertaking but was so rewarding. I could not have done this without my life partner in crime @the_dehavens our entire staff at @dehavencamera and our world class baristas at @housecoffeeco.la thank you to everyone who came by to say hi, learn about what we can offer and get caffeinated. Last huge thanks to my eternal homie @philhollandphfx for snapping this pic. Your a legend from all that we’ve collaborated on over the years all the way back to our early @rhythmandhuesstudios days.
@ericdehaven walks us through the Garmin inReach Mini—an essential safety tool for every diver 📡🌊
This compact satellite communicator, when paired with a dive housing and your Garmin dive computer, like Eric's Descent x50i, lets you send check-ins, type custom messages, and even trigger an SOS—all without surfacing. Full integration means you can access key functions right from your dive screen, keeping you connected and prepared on every dive.
