Haunted By Heroes is now available for Preorder! /ballast-bookstore/haunted-by-heroes
I could not be more excited to see this passion project come to life. Here is what the publisher had to say:
Ballast Books and Valor Press are honored to be working with NYT bestselling author Eric Blehm on his follow-up to Fearless, the legendary story of Adam Brown. Haunted by Heroes: Honoring SEAL Team 6, Extortion 17, and the Fearless Operators Who Didn’t Come Home, is now available for pre-order and releases on Aug. 6, 2026.
Fifteen years in the making, this is the story behind the story of the SEAL Team 6 operators who provided Blehm with the background on their teammate, Adam Brown, after his death in 2010. Tragically, these men from Adam’s troop were killed just weeks after Blehm interviewed them when their helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was shot down in Afghanistan. This is their story.
Pre-order now everywhere books are sold. First edition, hardcover copies signed by the author are available in the bookstore at /ballast-bookstore/haunted-by-heroes A donation will be made to a charity that supports the SEAL community for each signed copy purchased from the Ballast website.

What a powerful and compelling cover. This photo is from Navy SEAL Adam Brown’s ramp ceremony after he was k**led in Afghanistan in 2010. Many of the men who carried Adam home and later spoke with author Eric Blehm for the book Fearless were k**led in the Extortion 17 tragedy on Aug. 6, 2011. Blehm’s forthcoming book, Haunted by Heroes, honors their sacrifice and tells their story. Signed copies available at ballastbooks.com for pre-order. A portion of every direct order will go to a charity supporting Navy SEAL causes (finalizing those charities still). #fearless #adambrown #extortion17 #devgru #sealteam6
Craig Kelly had a turn and style that made people like Tom Sims and Jake Burton take notice starting at the 1985 Baker Banked Slalom.

Ballast Books and Valor Press are thrilled to welcome New York Times bestselling author @ericblehmofficial to the family with his upcoming title, Haunted by Heroes: Honoring SEAL Team 6, Extortion 17, and the Fearless Operators Who Didn’t Come Home.
In May 2011, days before SEAL Team 6’s raid that killed Osama bin Laden, Eric was approached to write the story of one of the top-secret unit’s most legendary operators—a Navy SEAL named Adam Brown. What began as a biography of one extraordinary life became an unexpected deep dive into a brotherhood of elite warriors.
From remote training grounds in Alaska to the coastlines of Virginia Beach, these men shared the raw truth of their world: maritime hostage rescues, knife fights with pirates, and high-risk missions. Weeks later, nearly all of them were killed when their helicopter—call sign Extortion 17—was shot down in Afghanistan.
This powerful follow-up to Fearless reveals the stories behind the story—a gritty memorial wrapped inside a heartrending memoir.
Haunted by Heroes returns to those men, honoring their lives, their sacrifice, and the brotherhood that bound them together, ensuring that their voices, like Adam’s, will not be forgotten.

“ … on St. Patrick’s Day [2010] , Adam’s team was given a challenging mission. They were tasked to go into a remote area of Afghanistan that was without American presence. A place that, due to its difficult terrain was a sanctuary for the insurgents, a place where they felt safe and beyond the reach of the American military. No one else but members of Adam’s command had the skill, fortitude, or audacity to infiltrate this area undetected and engage the enemy in their own backyard. This was exactly the kind of challenge that Adam Brown relished. In the fight that followed, Adam acted aggressively and selflessly. He fell protecting his teammates. Adam died a warrior’s death. Adam Brown is a hero.”
— SOC (SEAL) John W. Faas [excerpted from his eulogy to Adam Brown.]
For all of you who have been touched by the story of “Fearless” Adam Brown: This past weekend, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders awarded him, posthumously, the state’s highest honor—The Arkansas Medal of Freedom. So touching to see Adam’s beautiful family in attendance to accept the award. Watching the ceremony, I’m reminded of this excerpted quote from one of Adam’s letters to his children, in the event of his death: “I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this Earth, because nobody can take my spirit from me.” —Adam Brown
