🇵🇭 PILIPINO KA BA? | EPISODE 21 | Meet Erica Gonzales, Journalist, Editor
The other day I ran into Erica Gonzales (@ericagonzo ), a fashion and entertainment journalist who helps oversee coverage and strategy as the Digital Deputy Editor at ELLE Magazine (@elleusa ).
With more than a decade of experience in journalism, Erica found her calling at a very young age. Inspired by movies like The Devil Wears Prada, she dreamt of working as a journalist, putting fashion magazine covers up on her wall as a teenager.
Erica’s most important lesson? Keep connected to your contemporaries.
Her introduction to Hearst, the parent company of Elle, was thanks to a fellow Filipina that helped her get an internship with the organization. Now Erica writes some of the very stories featured on those covers for one of the country’s foremost fashion publications.
Erica is a true testament to what hard work and dedication can achieve in a craft that you truly love and enjoy. She is her own childhood dream come true.
Thank you for letting me live my Miranda fantasy, Erica! And shout out to your mom, who’s tuned into PKB and now gets to see her daughter on the show! ☺️

GO CHLOE! When I sat down with Chloe Kim months ago for ELLE’s Olympics digital cover story, she told me that her greatest accomplishment is always getting back up and trying again. She shared a memory about her first X Games, where, despite wiping out during practice moments before the competition, she powered through and won her first gold. I didn’t realize how prescient that story would be until last month, when she dislocated her shoulder and tore her labrum on the half pipe, nearly missing her third Olympics. But in classic Chloe fashion, she didn’t let another fall stop her.
Read the full story at the link in bio and keep scrolling for a quote I loved from her dad 🥺

One day in July, I moderated a conversation between siblings Lux Pascal and Pedro Pascal for ELLE’s Oct issue-and by “moderate” I mean mostly sat in awe on Zoom as they shared an intimate conversation about life, growing up, acting, and their endless love and support for each other. Can we petition for the Thelma & Louise remake to happen please??
Thank you @kaylaw and @saradaustin for your edits and guidance. And check out all our other wonderful stories on Latine creatives at ELLE!
