Ballet Des Moines is thrilled to announce that Eric Trope will lead the company as Artistic Director beginning next season.
Renowned in the ballet community for not only his illustrious dance career with time spent at Miami City Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet, Trope’s accolades include numerous choreographic awards and commissions for New Jersey Ballet, the New York Choreographic Institute, Joffrey Concert Group, among others. Trope is also known as one of the trusted stagers for the preeminent choreographer Justin Peck. Trope has travelled around the world setting Peck’s ballets, most recently at the Finnish National Ballet in Helsinki, Spain’s National Dance Company in Madrid, and at the Dresden Semperoper in Germany.
In addition to his dance career, Trope is a cofounder of Buddy System, a nationally recognized nonprofit focused on food insecurity that was started in response to the Miami community’s immense need during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Trope, who recently served as Lexington Ballet’s Artistic Director for the company’s 50th season, takes the AD role at Ballet Des Moines on July 1.

So thankful to spend time in the studio with @justin_peck , @michaelseanbreeden , & @pinoalosa .
