Today marks 2 years since my son Christian passed away 💔🕊️
There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think about him. And while the weight of grief can sometimes feel unbearable, I made the decision today not to stay in bed, but to show up—with love, for the people who continue to show love to us.
Every day, I do this for Baltimore.
But today, I did it for Christian. I love you, baby boy and I miss you more than I can express.

There are moments in life that remind you how long the journey is, and who really shows up for you throughout it.
I met Wes Moore way before he was Governor, back when I was writing my first book, Strong in the Broken Places. A close friend called me while Wes was speaking at an event, and being who he is, he took the time to hop on the phone with me. Before we hung up, he wrote his email in the back of his book and told me to stay in touch.
I did.
What followed wasn’t just support—it was consistency. He not only wrote a blurb for my book, but more than that, he showed up. Again and again, developing into a friendship lasting now more than a decade.
So when he walked into Equitea—our first modern matcha and tea studio—it felt familiar. Not because of the title he now holds, but because of the man he’s always been. Selfless. Genuine. Grounded in people.
Maryland is lucky to have him as Governor.
I’m blessed to call him a brother.
