Itâs not just about quantifying the proportion of women in our publications, but also about how they are represented.
The EqualVoice-Frame analyses the context in which women are portrayed. We examine whether stereotypes are being perpetuated, if suggestive images are used, and whether women are presented on an equal footing with their male colleagues.
Additionally, we use the EqualVoice-Fact to analyse the portrayal of men in the media. This includes examining stereotypes and other aspects of male representation, such as whether men are depicted in traditionally male-associated roles or professions, like leadership positions in companies or technical jobs, and whether they are stereotypically shown as strong, dominant, or rational. This analysis aims to determine if there is a distortion in gender representation in the media.

What do we do? đ
At the heart of the initiative is the EqualVoice-Factor. It measures the visibility of women in media and communication content using a specially developed semantic algorithm. It can analyse text, images, and videos.
đ Based on the results the editorial offices or companies can implement measures to increase the visibility of women and close the gender visibility gap.
So instead of promoting quotas, @ringier_ag g is using its journalistic and technological power to advocate gender equality in their articles and publications.

72% of all media reports in Switzerland are about men. According to the Global Media Monitoring Project 2020, the proportion worldwide is 75%. The goal of EqualVoice is to increase the visibility of women in the media, thereby closing the gender visibility gap, creating more female role models and giving women and men an equal voice.
EqualVoice advocates equal visibility of women and men in the media. We need more genuine and diverse role models so that the media represents reality.

In light of International Womenâs Day this Sunday, EqualVoice and Plan S Productions are bringing together leaders, experts and changemakers in Zurich for our event âSuccess Stories of Leadership.â Together, we will explore how leadership creates orientation, builds trust and shows why equality and diversity are not only values, but strategic drivers of long-term success.
One voice that reflects the spirit of this event is our co-host Sandra De Vito â attorney, film producer and co-initiator of the Demokratie-Talk series. As the initiator of the short film ÂŤDemokratie-Talk â Fokus RechtÂť, she also helped shape one of the morningâs special highlights â a powerful example of how storytelling can make leadership and structural change visible.
The film marks an important moment for the Canton of Zurich: in 2025, six key legal institutions were led by women for the first time â a strong example of how visibility and leadership can help drive structural change.

When asked to generate a winning football team, the #AI generated (you guessed it) a group of men. A real story that proves AI is an echo chamber of old stereotypes.
Why? Because AI learns from the data we feed it, and if that #data is full of historical gender #bias, the output will be too. Itâs the ultimate #GarbageInGarbageOut problem for equality.
This visual is a crucial reminder: The human review step is non-negotiable. We, the users, must provide critical input and stop letting AI reproduce outdated #stereotypes.
